"One thing that I really enjoyed about the hotel is that the park is right outside your door.

"Everybody should know that you have to read the little text of the booking carefully before coming to this hotel. They don´t speak other than germany and we did not manage to get anybody answering the phone. They require photo of you ID and of the credit card before coming even if you have paid the room in advance. Only then you get the code for the entrance and to your room. "This is a really nice hotel, in a building that is 100 years old this year. The beds are very comfortable, bathroom facilities are good, with a decent shaving mirror. The breakfast was good and was sufficient for me requiring a vegan menu, although would have liked vegan sausages, but the ham and salami substitutes made up for that.
Sadly the area around the hotel has seen better times. The U-bahn station is opposite the hotel’s main entrance and the staircases and elevators stink of urine, and could do with a visit from the Cologne City Cleansing Department.
It is also right next to Hansaring S-bahn Station which has connections to Cologne Hauptbahnhof, and other regional stations in the North Rhine-Westphalia region such as Dusseldorf, Aachen, and Koblenz which we visited using the hotel as a base to sleep and have breakfast.
It is also less than 1 mile away from the Cologne Cathedral, which is a nice walk down quiet back streets."
