The room was clean and well decorated but let down by not having a refrigerator and air conditioning as it was stifling hot all night so was difficult to sleep even with the windows open which were only open by a few centimetres. The restaurant was the biggest let down in the pub. I was shown to my table in the conservatory by the girl working at the bar who was very helpful. The first thing I noticed was the huge amount of dead house glass and blue bottles laying on the window sill next to my table. The worst bit was that one of these large house glass was laying upside down dead on my fork. I mentioned this to the girl serving me who applogised and took my cutlery set away in my napkin which left me the set opposite me. The menu I found was very limited to choice For the main meal which I chose a pasta dish with a creamy sauce and spinach which I added chicken to it. The pasta can be only described as bland at best there was practically no flavour to it and the added chicken which was in cubed shape looked like it was originally frozen reformed and had zero flavour to it. To make up for my disappointment I decided I’d see what was on the dessert

I had an issue when checking in (no bath in room, as requested ahead of reservation). Reception staff could not have been more helpful, and immediately upgraded our room. Throughout our stay all staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Leisure facilities in the club were outstanding, as was the awesome breakfast. We’ll definitely stay again!

7.8/10 Good! (1,008 reviews)
We stayed for a family occasion, travelling a considerable distance with our two young children (aged 3 and 6). What should have been a special stay turned into one of the most frustrating experiences we've had. On the Saturday night we were kept awake by excessive noise from a wedding. We were only informed of this the day before check-in — after our free cancellation window had closed — despite the wedding being booked well in advance. Our family room was positioned directly near the noise, resulting in virtually no sleep for any of us. The impact was significant. Due to our children's exhaustion we were forced to leave a close family wedding the following day far earlier than planned, having travelled such a distance to attend. The shower also had an inconsistent hot water supply throughout — not what you'd expect from a hotel and spa. At check-out we were clearly not alone in complaining — multiple other guests raised the same issues. Since then the complaint handling has been equally poor — holding responses, broken promises from management, and weeks of silence. A 15% discount was offered and rejected as wholly inadequate. We are now pursuing a chargeback and small claims action. I'd caution any family to check whether large events are scheduled — information this hotel withholds until it's too late to cancel.
