"The hotel was nice, with a restaurant and bar downstairs. The beds were stiff, so sleeping was a bit uncomfortable. The breakfast choices were plentiful but, the scrambled eggs were runny and had some liquid added, it was the same at a previous hotel as well. It may be a cultural difference I am not use to though. The dinner was just absolutely amazing and delicious! You have to get the steak with dirty fries or the chicken plate! It will change your life, lol! The staff was very nice as well...

Maldron Hotel Shandon Cork

10/10 Excellent

"This was probably my favorite hotel of all the ones we stayed during our tour of Ireland. It was once a hospital and has a lot of neat history. It is located in the Shandon area, very near some beautiful Cathedrals. It is a bit of walk to the actual shopping, but would definitely stay here again. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We stayed in a family room, and it was perfect! King bed in the center, twin beds on each side!"

"The hotel is quite old, but it was clean overall. However, the carpets in the room showed their age, and the bed sheets had stains from excessive wear. Unfortunately, they only provided a thick comforter as a bed cover, which might be great for winter, but it's really uncomfortable during the summer months. On the bright side, the room had a functioning AC and plenty of space. My main issue was with the breakfast, which left much to be desired. Firstly, it was an à la carte menu rather than a buffet, limiting options. The choices leaned heavily towards meat and dairy, and the fresh fruit bowl was disappointing. The waitress didn't offer alternatives like oat milk, and the cereal and granola were of very low quality. The bread selection was frankly awful, and I felt breakfast should start at 6 AM since many guests want to explore the city early, especially those eager to make the most of their day. Aside from this, the hotel was decent, with ample parking and plenty of room."

"Super clean and aesthetically pleasing hotel! Everything is beautiful and carefully thought out. The room itself is a tad bit small but still works! The AC didn’t go below 18c and barely would blow during the heatwave Ireland was having and the drain in the shower wouldn’t drain so you stood in water. Other than that I would still recommend this hotel!"

"Prevail house is the best hotel in Ireland. And what makes it the best is its location and its people. The people greet you at the front door. They Millie tried to help you with your luggage. They get to know you and what you’re interest are so that they can help fulfill your needs. The food is delicious, and the hospitality is warm and generous. It always makes you feel good to stay there."

"There is a parking lot around the corner which is helpful in a really busy town. The unit itself is a bit worn and tired but handles basic needs. The shower is very unique and there were no instructions as to how to turn it on. The owner let us know once we reached him. The shower itself is poor. Very little pressure. On a positive note, the owners are friendly and helpful. Great, great location!"
