The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given great advice on how to get to the main attractions. They went out of their way to be helpful. The rooms were old but comfortable and clean. Good air con and free wifi. Great position! Make sure to buy a Lisboa card. It cost 19 euro for 24 hours and gave free or discounted entry to attractions and free transport. It saved us a lot of time queing and money. Happy holiday!

no air-conditioning and it was 42 degrees!
The air-conditioning (lack of) made the hotel experience unacceptable. It was 42 degrees in Lisbon! The fuses blew twice leaving the room in darkness (after we tried to turn up the failing air-conditioning unit). The staff were very nice and helpful (found us a wonderful guide for the day because considering the heat we did not want to attempt to run around on our own) ...but the lack of air ruined everthing.

Dear Susan, We thank you for your evaluation. It was a hard time to get to Lisbon, at that time you catch 42 degrees and is not easy to sleep. We did our best to get you comfortable, we hope your next stay with us is more enjoyable. Thank you very much!

Pleasant 2* hotel 200m from the Metro
Twin room was clean and quiet and bathroom had a hair dryer. Staff all very pleasant and spoke English. Breakfast was typical continental style but nice enough before heading out for the gastronomic delights that Lisbon offers. We found many reasonably priced eateries within a 10 min walk and would stay here again. It is not 4 or 3* hotel but does not pretend to be either. Loved the staircase and roof lights.

Clean, functional hotel
Tiny, basic rooms featuring full beds with firm mattresses and small TV. Bathrooms have excellent water pressure. Breakfast is cheap (2 euros per night) and has basic provisions for a long day out. Very friendly staff!

Solid 3 star hotel
Good location being a ten to fifteen minute walk from the city centre and a couple of minutes walk from a metro stop. Decent 3 star hotel for the price, especially with breakfast included. The only let down was the lack of a kettle and tea/coffee making facility in the room.

The room was extremely small and in desperate need of a clean. The shower was filthy and the water overflowed. Price however suited the hotel and the breakfast was good. Excellent location for sightseeing.

Good location, nice staff.
Good location right in the city. Lovely and helpful staff. Woman on reception gave us a map and tips on what to do. The room was OK. It was clean and the bed was large and comfortable. But in our room the ceiling slopped down and we are tall so had to bend to move around. The WiFi was also terrible. But it worked well in the entrance.

Great location and very friendly hotel
This is a lovely little hotel in one of the smartest areas of Lisbon, on a beautiful tree lined avenue with exclusive shops such as Gucci and Prada all around it there is this little gem. Very friendly and helpful staff and lovely comfortable rooms. within walking distance of the city centre and there are plenty of buses as well if you need them. The room rate included a buffet breakfast which was great, rolls, cake, donuts, croissants, fruit, yogurt, toast, cheese and cold meats as well as cereal and drinks. Really impressed and another excellent find from Expedia.

Great price for such a central location
2 nights of a 7 night stay in Lisbon. Very central location. Great price for the otherwise expensive location. Rooms are not huge but would not expect it at the price. Only real fault is bathroom or shower in particular could do with updating. Very friendly and helpful staff and good buffet breakfast except for coffee which was poor

Good if you're on a budget
Hotel staff was great. Very helpful every time you ask them for assistance. The room was the bare minimum. Not a lot of amenities, no gym. The bed was the worst but the room was always maintained clean. It's on a big avenue so it's loud on the first floor. The Ac unit was minimum but the nights were cool enough to open the window. Located near a lot of shops and restaurants; close to the metro and bus stops.

Cute hotel in perfect location
Stayed for 5 nights for a city break. Twin room spacious but a little dark due to being semi below ground with a ground-level window. Simple but filling breakfast. Very polite staff. Good restaurants around and plenty more within 15 minutes walk. 10 mins from Rossio. Beautiful setting. I'd stay there again.

Nice hotel in an excellent location
The location is excellent: very centrally located, close to a metro stop, and walking distance from train station/sites. Also really easy to catch a cab if need be. Hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They gave great advice on how to get around and which buses and such to take. Breakfast each morning was really nice as well. Wifi, air conditioning, and an elevator were a nice bonus.

Low headspace and no bulbs
I was given an attic granny flat with very low head-space. There were no curtains in the bathroom (which was in fairness quite sheltered, but still exposed to view). When I asked, before 10pm, for light bulbs for the bathroom I was told there was no one who could access light bulbs for petty maintenance... otherwise great service from staff, great location, good bed. Carpet could do with a clean: I did not dare walk on it barefoot.

Great location on Liberdade. Close to shops locally and to subway & buses for further away destinations, including airport. Typical three star hotel, but knowledgeable, multilingual, super friendly desk staff and good upkeep bring it up a notch. Tiniest elevator I have ever seen in a hotel! Perfect place for one or two people on the go, looking for a clean, well-located and reasonably priced place to call home for a few days.

Standard hotel in a nice location
For a 3 star hotel, I was pleased Hotel Veneza. I stayed a weekend in Lisbon with my boyfriend. The hotel was well situated to the touristy areas and transportation. Our room was a comfortable size for the two of us. The AC only put out slightly cooled air and as such we had to sleep with the window open (very noisy). Our neighbors complained theirs was not cooling the room either. The hotel staff in the mornings were very friendly and helpful - gave great directions and travel tips. The night staff left plenty to be desired though - we were told we'd have to wait till morning for extra towels and soap. If traveling to Lisbon again, I would likely stay at the Hotel Veneza again.

VIP INN VENEZA
Not so VIP. The staff wasn't very friendly, the service was poor. No free wi-fi, which should be included in a 3-star hotel. It cost quite a lot and was charged per hour. The location was good, right in the main street (equivalence to champs élysées). The bed sheet and linnens weren't european standard. The heater was barely functional. We had the misfortune to get one of the rooms which were next to an elevator and each time someone used there was this loud noise that could be hard from inside the room (was especially annoying when trying to sleep...). Breakfast was OK, although not included. You can't even walk down and up to the hotel from the lobby, which means EVERYONE had to take the elevator, which meant we had to experience the lovely noise from the elevator every other minute. Despite the fact that we paid a rather low price for this hotel, I would not recommend it and it did absolutely not hold a 3-star standard, barely 2.

Excellent character hotel in a great location
The Hotel VIP Inn Veneza makes an excellent base for a stay in Lisbon. Situated in an old building full of character yet providing all the modern facilities you would expect, it offers great value for money for a city centre hotel. Situated about 15 to 20 minutes walk from the heart of the old city, the location could not be better. Although it is situated on one of the city's busiest streets, the double glazed windows meant although our room was at the front of the hotel we could hear no road noise at all with the windows shut. The room was clean and functional and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Although we did not take breakfast at the hotel, preferring to sample some of the city's many eating establishments, the breakfast room looked very pleasant. We would definitely stay here on any future visit to Lisbon and would recommend it to anyone.

Hotel VIP Inn Veneza in Lisbon - loved it!
My husband & I spent a four-night sightseeing stint in Lisbon, & we stayed at the Hotel VIP Inn Veneza. We loved it! The room was small but clean. The bed was large & comfortable with plenty of pillows & linens. There was also a small fridge in the room, which was a nice surprise & was helpful in our attempt to save money by not eating out each meal. (A tip: There's a great convenience store a few blocks south called "Hippie Store." They have fresh bread & fruit & a great selection of cheeses. We stocked up & had this for breakfast each morning as the hotel did not provide free breakfast.) My only two complaints about the hotel are that the shower was incredibly small & difficult to maneuver in, & the wi-fi was expensive. The charm & amazing location of the hotel totally made up for its shortcomings however. The staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. Though my husband speaks a bit of Portuguese, they were all more than happy to speak with us in English (knowing that I didn't understand what they were saying otherwise). The desk staff knew us after the first day & greeted us graciously each time we came & went. The server in the breakfast restaurant knew how I liked my coffee after the first day & would prepare it for me without my asking as soon as I walked in. I can't say enough wonderful things about the staff!! The hotel is on a beautiful stretch of Avenida da Liberdade in the middle of downtown. It was noisy outside, but the windows were double-paned & totally blocked out all noise when we closed them at night. The neighborhood was fantastic - tons of great shops & cafes are just outside the door, & there is also a very convenient MultiBanco ATM at a large bank practically next door. Though the hotel is just across from the Avenida metro station, we never used the metro system, as it was limited & didn't go to many of the places we wanted to check out. The Avenida bus stop was a block down, however, & was very convenient. The airport even runs a bus service called AeroBus (not to be confused with AeroShuttle, which makes different stops), & it dropped us off & picked us up right at Avenida for only a few euros. Overall, our stay at Veneza was incredible. I'd stay there again or recommend it to a friend anytime.

Enjoyed my stay
I would recommend the Veneza, but underline that the rooms are small, with relatively high wi fi connection charges, and hotel access not always available. In my opinion the Veneza is a very good three star hotel, and not in the four star category. But I have gotten to know the neighborhood restaurants, and find the location convenient to the Metro and taxis readily available. The staff is generally helpful, but the personnel on weekends does not seem as professional as they might be.
