I only stay in hotels when I'm working, but I stay in alot of hotels, this was definately up there in my worst stays.
When I stay in a hotel, I expect to be able to have a decent night sleep and feel comfortable and safe. However, I checked in to this hotel, went up to my room on the top floor and discovered a 30th birthday banner across the door adjacent to my room. I aired my concerns to the staff, as I was to be up at 6am, who told me there was a party on that night, so anywhere they moved me could be just as noisy. When I went to the lobby, there where several firemen in there, which raised my concerns. A few hours later, I met two police officers on my floor, giving me even more cause for concern. Seeing two emergency services in one night is not great for your guests. Especially after a very large fire earlier that day in Liverpool.
The noise from the party was excruciatingly loud, despite being 3 floors above it, which I find extremely inconsiderate to other guests in the hotel. When the party finished, the attendees where just as loud with zero consideration for any one else staying here.
The lady on the desk in the morning was really nice about it and understood my frustrations, she couldn't apologise enough, and tried to be as helpful as she could, but that's roughly £100 to not sleep. Unfortunately had a similar experience in the village hotel at Blackpool, which is the only other time I've used this particular chain.
