A very ordinary and rather run down pub exterior hides a hidden gem. The recently opened courtyard of six en-suite rooms are excellent. Our room (No 6) was spacious and very well equipped with Nespresso machine, bottled water and a good range of teas. The bed was large and comfortable. Our bathroom was very large with an excellent shower. Food at the pub was of a good pub grub standard. We had excellent scallops to start with and then a very good fish pie. My tarte tatin pudding was a disappointment, being re-heated and rather chewy. A very good range of wines at reasonable prices and non-alcoholic beer on tap which was very unusual and, to the non-drinker, most welcome. Above all was the very friendly service we received throughout our stay. If your heart sinks a little as you drive in, keep going, a hidden gem awaits.
