actually 2 hotel-apts, Portillo not recommended
There's a bit of false advertising with this place. There are actually 2 hotel/apartments and one is nicer than the other. They should be listed separately. I do not recommend the rooms that say "Portillo" because those are actually a different building, about a 9 minute walk away from the main one --> not fun with suitcases. The rooms at the Portillo place are poor, with the lowest quality of furniture, linens, and decoration. If you have allergies, this place is not good, they use a strong and artificial air freshener. The places at Portillo would be 1 star, not 3 stars as they are advertised as (I say this as someone who has stayed in hundreds of hotels/apartments/BnBs in Spain and other countries.) However, the staff member, Edy, who helped me with my suitcases, was very kind. After an international flight, I was grateful for her help. Also, I liked that the main place serves as a kind of cultural center for the neighborhood. I think, overall, the 2 hotel-apartments, or at least the Portillo one, needs more monetary investment.

This is a place to keep your stuff safe. It’s clean and easy to access. However it’s not that close to the city plaza of Cervantes. I walked good 15 to 20 minutes. Not your place if you are looking for hotel amenity stay. It’s very laid back. No hotel cleaning or toiletries supplies. Shower head was broken. It was a good deal and very clean. Beds not very comfortable.

Lamentamos que su estancia no haya cubierto sus necesidades. Efectivamente somos una casa de huespedes con sus servicios correspondientes, no un hotel. Todas las habitaciones disponen de amenities (champu, gel, etc...) . La distancia al centro son 700 metros. Depende de como usted camine así tardará en llegar.

Convenient
Not easy to park street, but I was lucky to park in front of the hotel and I did not move my car for two days, just in case. It's 10-15 minutes from the core of the city, depending how fast you walk. For the price, I think it was excellent. Breakfast was more than I need (but I am Italian: I have a very small breakfast). Personnel is really nice and helpful, although not always present. The only thing I did not like was the pillow: very hard for my taste.

Quirky, friendly, comfortable and versatile
This place was a delight. It comprises guest rooms, rather than being a hotel, and there is a communal area with kitchen facilities and equipment, eating space, and a lounge area. A picnic breakfast tray is supplied each day, and you can use the facilities to toast the bread, make coffee etc, as well as making a meal with your own supplies, if you wish. Our accommodation consisted of 2 floors, with a spiral staircase leading from the bedroom/bathroom to a room above, which we named " the snug", which had a sofa, coffee table, and desk, as well as a third bed. There was a fridge in the room , and a decent clothes storage area. The only proviso is that the bath and toilet area is only separated from the sleeping area by a screen, so may not be ideal for those who like complete privacy when performing their ablutions! As my husband had been unwell on our journey this place was perfect for him to relax and recover in while i explored the delights of the town, just a 10-15 minute walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful. WiFi connection was excellent. There is an area called "El Patio" which has a floor laid with fitness mats, where yoga and pilates classes take place, mainly in the evenings, but can be used by guests at other times. The decor is book themed, specifically Don Quijote, with rooms named after the various characters from the story.

Hotel/Bed&Breakfast/Hostel????
My review is to let future guest know what they are signing up for. This is not a typical hotel. No one works there 24 hours a day, personnel is only there in the day. This caused some problems; ran out of toilet paper, WiFi was down one night, other guest smoking in there rooms (It is posted in the rooms that it is a smoke-free facility). It was also posted that the room would be cleaned every 3rd day. We stayed 7 nights and our room was cleaned once. I even had to ask for it to be cleaned. So we only got fresh towels one time. The personnel is very nice and accommodating when they are there. I would recommend staying there as long as you know what you are getting or not getting.

We dont have 24 hours reception but we have a 24 hours phone in case you need any help. In order to help environment every 3 days we ask guets if they want the towels to be changed. We continue work to give our customers the best services of a guest house with an afordable price but if you need other services you can find in the area another type of accomodation, hotels, residences, etc... Don Quixote area in Madrid
Very convenient stay in Alcala De Henares with 16 century bldgs in the old town. The Cervantes Birthplace Museum is the former home of the celebrated author of “Don Quixote" was nearby. Great price for being close to Barajas Int Airport and good scenic drive into Madrid. Plaza de Cervantes is a good shopping place.

Clerk was kind. Breakfast was poor and i didnt like the fact that bathroom was open no walls and we were 4 adults and a child when i made reservation. Room wasnt clean daily. I wont come back there.

The room has a bath open and the photos in the web are clear enought, also I advise us about that when you come and I offered to you the bath in the middle of the corridor. About the services we offer , are services of a host house not the one of a hotel. Iam so sorry about your experience but next time please try to find out something that can fit your necessities. Estimado Cliente, lamentamos que su experiencia no esté siendo buena. Disponemos de habitaciones de varias categorias. La habitación que ha reservado no dispone de bañera , si no de ducha. La habitación con bañera es una doble de categoria superior. usted reservó una doble estandar.

Repetiría mi estancia en este hotel
Entrada y salida fueron fáciles y rápidas. En la habitación Dulcinea de 4 personas una de las camas era incómoda (la del sofá cama) y la separación lavabo/water con habitación es con biombo, cosa que pienso que puede mejorarse cambiando bañera por ducha y puerta corredera. Estamos acostumbrados a tener más intimidad. En el desayuno podría ser más sostenible por ejemplo con termo de café y leche aunque tienen buenas ideas, la sala de desayuno y la conjunta con patio son muy agradables. La calle muy tranquila, la habitación silenciosa. Una estancia que recomendaría.

La higiene no es buena. Las colchas estaban sucias y con manchas, es mejor no tenerlas porque baja la categoría del alojamiento. También deben tener más cuidado con la limpieza de la cocina.

Séjour décevant.
Séjour quelque peu décevant. En premier lieu, nous avons appris sur le tard qu'il s'agissait d'une maison d'hôtes et non d'un hôtel, apparemment en raison d'un manque de communication entre hotels.com et l'établissement. Ensuite, nous n'avons pas été très contents de ne pas avoir de réception disponible à tout moment. Egalement au rang des déceptions, le petit-déjeuner servi la veille pour le lendemain sur un plateau dans la chambre quand nous étions à l'extérieur ne nous a pas paru en adéquation avec le petit-déjeuner compris habituel dans d'autres séjours que nous avons pu effectuer. Enfin, il a été très inconfortable pour nous de ne pas avoir de porte séparant les toilettes du lit.

Un poco decepcionada
La casa y la ubicación están bien, pero al no ser un hotel está bastante dejado y solitario. Aunque pone que hay teléfono para incidencias, no siempre obtienes respuesta inmediata. A las doce de la noche alguien empezó a llamar a mi ventana en la planta baja y luego al timbre de la puerta durante más de media hora, me desconcertó el sueño para toda la noche y me sentí totalmente desprotegida en una casa en la que ni siquiera sabía si estaba yo sola o con más personas. No lo recomendaría para viajar sola, al no haber recepción 24h.

El precio es acorde a los servicios que prestamos, por lo que si usted necesita recepción 24h debe asegurarse que el lugar que reserva dispone de ella. Lamentamos la confusión.

Jeg hadde så lyst på å gi dette hotellet god score. Men det var en del ting som trekker ned. På hotellsida var resepsjon mellom 17-22. Men ingen resepsjon. Bare en link til å sjekke inn og få en link til å åpne nøkkelskapet. Men denne innsjekkingslinken virka ikke. Var heldig, noen som var på trening slapp oss inn. På grunn av covid var frokosten på satt på rommet. Det var en ekstremt liten frokost alle dager på hotellet. I rommet sto varmen på for fullt ved ankomst, tok lang tid å kjøle ned. Første natta brakk senga midt på natta når jeg snudde meg. Råtne planker i sengebunnen. Men det var et eller annet som gjorde at jeg likte hotelle, historien med Don Qujote og stemningen. OK pris var det også. Mye å klage på, men mye å like.

Estimado Cliente, lamentamos su experiencia, pero nuestro alojamiento (Casa de Huespedes) no dispone de recepción 24h. Estamos de 9-14h y de 18-20h, fuera de ese horario dejamos las llaves en unas cajitas en el exterior, como bien indica la info que esta en la web de reserva. Efectivamente el somier se rompió y se le cambio por otro en cuanto nos lo comentó.

Viajé por negocios a Madrid y me hospedé en este hotel. En la entrada hubo una confusión en el registro, pero no más que una anédota. La habitación muy amplia, limpia, al igual que el baño. El desayuno es similar al de los albergues de media Europa, cocina equipada con self service, pero a mi me valió. No tienen aparcamiento, pero debo decir que siempre encontré aparcamiento cerca del hotel, no es una zona muy concurrida. Como punto negativo, diría que el que la recepción no esté operativa 24 horas, puede traer algún problema si necesitas algo urgente del hotel. En general, satisfecho, volvería.
