Stayed here over the Christmas 2023 for 7 nights. As many reviewers have commented, the property is furnished to a high standard, with particularly comfortable beds. Some of the best we’ve had in a rental. The house is well located with views of Carsington Water and pub within walking distance. Lots to see and do within a short drive. Ample parking at the property with easy access. We’d not researched as well as we should, not realising the set-up of the house. One bedroom is downstairs with no toilet/bathroom - it wasn’t ideal for us as we had parents with some slight mobility issues. Also hadn’t appreciated that the dining area is in the entrance to the property, without a huge amount of space ; we also found it cool whilst eating, not a table to linger longer at.. We ate in more than most typical visitors, was not our ideal dining experience, but for most probably wouldn’t impact. We had some issues with the heating, initially an App related problem that the heating would not turn on. The owners they were very responsive, and for the rest of our stay we could control the heating. The log fire in the lounge is a great addition, as despite the thermostat showing the house was 23 degrees, it didn’t feel too warm. Seating was a little challenging in the lounge. Probably fine for younger visitors, but my parents struggled to get out of the chairs. Despite the few niggles, we had an enjoyable stay and would recommend. Hosts very responsive and helpful.

The property was in an excellent location for exploring the surrounding countryside. All areas were cleaned to a very high standard. There was no Welcome pack which we have found in other properties. Both showers had no non-slip mats which made showering difficult. Overall it was a very good property that, with a few tweaks, could be excellent.

We stayed at Lakeview for a four night stay for our family reunion and had a fabulous time. The house was very clean and super comfortable. The beds were definitely luxurious and we all slept well. There was nothing that we did not like about Lakeview. The weather fairy was on on our side as we had perfect weather and sat outside on the patio with wonderful scenery and a great view of the lake. I would definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend for a great place to explore the Dales.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Christmas. A stunning house with beautiful and tasteful furnishings. Spotless on arrival, kitchen well stocked with various crockery, glasses and cooking equipment. We had a walk around the reservoir on Christmas Eve, perfect weather and a well earned drink at the Miners Arms afterwards. Would love to stay again sometime. Thank you again

Great cottage.
Great, comfortable cottage in a lovely village. Log burner was a plus. Very well equipped, and big comfy beds. Ideal location within walking distance of a great pub and a 5 min drive to Carsington Waters where we hired bikes to cycle. Would highly recommend.

Lovely property but 2 niggles
The property is beautiful, large, well appointed and spacious. Four adults stayed and my three month old granddaughter. We had a hot tub in the garden which overlooked Carsington water. This was a beautiful addition to the property. It is mentioned in the description that it costs extra to rent so you are not too bothered to pay the hire price. However my husband was informed that an extra £100 charge would be required for the electricity used to heat the hot tub over the three nights we were there. I looked up the price of how much a modern hot tub costs 2 feet and this is maximum around £6 per day so feel that £100 was far too much to ask. The weather was cold while we were there and as we had a very young child with us so we needed the heating on. Each time we had to email Pat Miller to ask her to switch it on. She did explain that there was some problem with the app that she was using but I couldn’t understand why we had to ask to have the heating on in the house. Be prepared if you visit in the autumn as you have no control over the heating in the house. On the morning we were leaving it was very chilly while we were getting ready to leave and again I asked Pamela to switch the heating on so that we could get the baby ready and she made a comment about it not being cold. I found this slightly offensive as the baby needed the chill taken off of the house.

Beautiful Property
We had a wonderful time at Lakeview. Such a special location overlooking Carsington Water. My husband took his bike and rode around the lake, it was roughly a 9 mile ride. We hired a hot tub to keep the older children happy. There is a great pub down the road. The host Pamela was fantastic. We would definitely go again.

Large clean house with pretty views towards the lake.
Beautiful master bedroom with plenty of room for two large beds for my son and his family, bathroom ensuite with wonderful view. Would have been better if all three bedrooms were on the first floor as no bathroom downstairs. Kitchen had plenty of crockery, pans etc. Empty hamper in the corner with no welcome pack was very disappointing. No milk, or other basics until we asked! The Cock at Mugginton recommended by Pamela was well worth the visit with delicious food and beautiful surroundings.

Lovely Holiday. Property was immaculately clean and roomy. Location looking over carsington water and within easy reach to Matlock, Bakewell and surrounding areas and attractions. Great location, lovely views and very comfortable
Lovely property, finished to a high standard. Host was very nice and helpful, when we mentioned we were cold, due to the unseasonable chill, she turned on the heat and found us some kindling so we could make use of the lovely log burner. Heated floors in bathrooms we didn't expect so that was also very nice. The tub with a view is spectacular. Main bed was comfortable but a bit firm for us with dodgy shoulders. Ice was a great touch. Some milk on arrival would also have been appreciated but we had our own Long life, so it was ok to make a cup of tea. Only thing we didn't like was the layout, not quite what we expected, the dining table in the entry foyer, which would have made home catering a little awkward, but we didn't do that so it was fine. A floor plan in the listing would alleviate confusion. Also the lounge tended to tip up in the middle section when you tried to get out of it. Just little things but did impact us a bit. Overall it was a superb location and the views over Carsington waters were very nice indeed.

This house is well maintained and clean. It’s setting is gorgeous. We had a wonderful stay with family. We had an issue Re heating which the owners worked with us. I’d really like to rent a house where we control the heating settings, this house is not set up like this. We had never had this experience before in the numerous homes we have rented. However we would still love to stay again because it suited us so well and Pamela was so attentive with our communications and really wanted us to be happy In Her beautiful home!

Fantastic Weekend With Girl friends
We had the most fabulous week end break, the weather was very kind to us. The house is beautiful and adequate spca for myself and six girl friends. Very cosy lounge to sit around and chat after an afternoon walk in the country with bird hides close by. The hire of a hot tub was great fun and added enjoyment. Pamela the host is so lovely and helpful. Would recommend Lake View to all my family and friends.

Great location, weather was not the best ;0), but we enjoyed ourselves with some chilled out times. The hot tub needs thinking about as a hot tub is listed, but is actually hired on top of the property cost. The tub is not hot enough to use first day, as it heats 4 degrees per hour, so £280 for a four night hire is actually over three days. Would love to stay again in summer next time:0).

Eight of us were easily accommodated at the house including a dining table that fitted us all. We walked around the straight from the cottage door and the Miners Arms is less than 5 mins walk and is a great pub for food and drinks.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting
Lakeview is a gorgeous property in a stunning location. The cottage was immaculate and the owner had thought through everything that anyone would need during their stay, and more, including details of the area, local amenities etc. Pam reached out to us once we had arrived to check that all was okay and was readily available should we have needed her (we didn’t due to everything being so thought through). My two year old daughter loved stay so much that she didn’t want to leave and took full advantage of playing with the toys and games provided. The cottage is in a beautiful setting with a spacious parking area. We hired a hot tub and would definitely recommend this as an added extra to take in the breathtaking surrounding views and lake. A wonderful relaxing break away
We booked Lakeview for a family holiday with our two adult children and their partners. Strangely it was the first property that came up when we started to look and despite searching to see if we could find anything better suited Lakeview seemed to be the perfect choice for us. We all felt tired and in need of a much needed rest and Lakeview fulfilled all our needs. Set just off a country lane in Hopton (look out for Hopton House as it took us a while to find the property) with lovely views across the lake and with a small patio area and large grass garden it was just as the listing in Vrbo stated. The house was immaculate - lovely and clean and fresh and we each had our own room (note one of the bedrooms is downstairs and no downstairs toilet). The decor was lovely, contemporary and fresh and the lounge with wood burner and huge sofa was ideal for family time in the evenings. We hired the hot tub for the week and if this is something that you enjoy we recommend it. We were very lucky with the weather and between us we spent a lot of time on the patio (there were two sun beds and a table, umbrella and chairs) and in the hot tub. The only small thing that we could find fault with were the bath towels were very small and inadequate. If you are hiring the hot tub we recommend that you bring your own towels as ours were constantly wet and there was no tumble dryer to dry them in. The local area was lovely with a pub just up the road had good food and small town (Wirksworth) 2 miles from the house. Lots of lovely walks or bike rides if that is what you enjoy. The host Pamela was close by and helpful in all our requests. We would definitely love to come back to this lovely property and would highly recommend it.

Special time spent with family
The great location, facilities, cleanliness could not be faulted. Good WIFI connection which makes up for the poor/ at times none existent telephone reception in the area. We hired a hot tub which was in place and working on our arrival. The house has just been newly painted pale grey, so don’t look for a cream house!! There is a good pub in short walking distance, always a plus. Minor downside the bedroom on the ground floor does not have direct access a toilet/sink. It is a cottage of good size the shared shower room facility is on the first floor. Simple things like brushing your teeth, washing and nighttime toilet visits are a bit inconvenient but nothing that detracted from us having a good time. Thank you Pamela for letting us use your beautiful home, we will definitely be back.

Derbyshire cottage with lovely view
Lakeview cottage is in a lovely setting overlooking Carsington Water in a quiet village. The cottage is immaculate with high quality linens and bathrooms and very comfortable beds. The kitchen is well equipped and we loved eating our evening meal out on the terrace and the garden has plenty of space for a game of badminton. There is plenty to do in the area although if you are thinking of booking water sports on the lake you need to book well in advance. Can thoroughly recommend the team at Wild park for quad biking, archery etc All in all we had a lovely stay and would not hesitate to book again.

Perfect in every way.
When we arrived, we couldn't believe the standard of the property. Every detail was just perfect. The children were running around the massive garden and the adults were walking in very room shocked that it was ours for a week. We were able to sit and enjoy the view every evening while the children played on the lawn. While we were lucky with the weather, if it had rained, we would have been very comfortable in the front room and dining room. Getting the hot tub delivered the day before made it even better. Worth every penny. Thank you. We'll be back if we are able to get a reservation.

When we arrived at the cottage we were blown away by the property and the views. We actually thought the photos didn’t do it justice! From before we booked, right up until we left, Pamela was the perfect host. Extremely friendly and helpful!!! There is plenty to do close to the cottage and we had some great days out. We also visited the local pub and would highly recommend that too! We had an absolutely fabulous weekend and would not hesitate to rebook!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful break
Everything about the stay was idyllic. The traditional cottage looks with the modern but tasteful interior made us feel like we were at a 5 star hotel. The views are stunning and the location is easy to get to many of the attractions nearby. Shopping was easy with a co op not far- we even had a Tesco delivery to the door and the hot tub we hired through booking the cottage was used every night - The owner lives close by and we had the chance to meet. A wonderful conversation was had and we knew if we had any issues (which we didn’t) we could rely on them being resolved. We will definitely visit again

The views of lake carsington beautiful and perfect for the hot tub the host recommended we hire. Host was so welcoming and communicated well. Lots to do and wish we’d stayed more than 3 nights. A little disappointed at this review... It seems this has been written in anger at a £50 charge to repair 2 roman blinds which the guest Toni and her family damaged. The 2 blinds in question were brand new as the property has been fully refurbished during lockdown. Considerable force must have been used as the heavy duty, braided nylon cord had been snapped, as had several rings. The pully mechanism on both blinds also had to be replaced. I might have understood if one blind had been damaged, but two, seems irresponsible. I am also disappointed that Toni failed to report this damage to me, claiming that I must have changed the email password....????!! The blinds were unusable, This caused considerable anxiety for my housekeeper who along with the extra workload of C-19 precautions, had to organise a repair the same day, as new guests were arriving at 4pm. What I find interesting is, Toni managed to get hold of me immediately on arrival to complain that the WiFi wasn't working ( It wasn't plugged in!) a little insincere...I am very surprised, as this was a return visit. I pride myself on offering high quality, luxury accommodation for all guests to enjoy, sadly, very occasionally, some people, don't seem to appreciate this.

This place is a gem, and high-spec. Given the Covid times we arrived, you could not have hoped for a more scrupulously clean approach, and we felt very safe and at home straight away. The local friendly pub has a big garden and is good for food, though outside the pub is far better than inside. We went on a walk recommended by the owner, which was delightful, over the hills to the next village, and another delightful pub. The owner as far as I can tell lives next door/adjoining, and she is also a brilliant and fast communicator by email anyway, so you do not feel alone and we had plenty of chances to talk over the local area and what it offers. The local lake has a pleasant cycle path round it, but the east side is hilly and I passed quite a few families with little kids on hired bikes struggling with the full-circle route, but still a joy to have this on your doorstep. 2 of the bedrooms have superb views. One doesn't. Very well equipped in all respects, and comfy beds. The garden is a slope. Great sitting room and log burner. I'd definitely go back - worth every penny. Brilliant walks in almost any direction, with good tourist things nearby. Huge thanks to Pamela for a top-class stay.

Lovely setting for a week-end away.
Lakeview was a lovely property for our week end break in Derbyshire, and very well located for local attractions. Lovely area, property well situated for walks and good views over lake. Property mostly clean and in good decorative order. We like to cook for ourselves. Much of the cookware (frying pans, baking trays, pyrex) was well past it - I'd be embarrassed to take it to a charity shop. Couldn't make fried breakfast as non-stick useless. Both frying pans filthy. No oven gloves. Kitchen knives were blunt, peeler was useless. Dishwasher top shelf broken, and could only use bottom half for the whole week. No batteries in radio in kitchen. No large saucepans for larger groups. We had to buy one to make a casserole. Toaster only toasts two pieces at a time (cottage accommodates 8). Light bulbs too low powered in kitchen and living room for reading. No welcome pack on arrival - seems pretty standard these days. Info folder with leaflets dated 2008 and 2011. No logs for sale at the Co-op for the woodburner. No heating controls (set from next door). No heaters to fall back on if cold. Owner needs to step up. Could all be put right without spending very much at all.
