This is a terrible place for a person expecting a good nights sleep in a clean environment. I ended up staying in what felt a converted shed. It was cold and damp. The bedding felt wet to sleep in as it was so damp. I ended up sleeping in my t-shirt i was so cold. The pillows where brown and dirty. The carpet had not been hovered. The electrics tripped 3 times and i had to keep putting the switch back up. The tv didnt work. I had to keep getting up to use the buttons on the tv itself. The screen wasnt pink. The bathroom window did not have a cover on it, so the owners whilst walking their dog could look in. so i ended up taping a carrier bag to the window. The draft was so bad from the rear door it was blowing the key chain in the door. I actually contemplated packing up in the night and going to sleep in the van. The only good thing was the eggs in the morning which was served on burnt toast. Definitely would not advise sleeping in the shed in the winter. Will never book this place again and it should not be listed as a hotel as all the pictures displayed are not even pictures of the shed i stayed in. All where of the main house.

Hi there. I am very sorry to hear about your unhappy experience! I confess the coldness was my mistake – I had not received your ETA and so had not turned on the heaters in time for your arrival. Even though it heats up fast (and it felt to be a cosy 25C when I served breakfast in the morning) I can fully appreciate it can be hard to shake a negative first impression! And it does sound like your stay was an unfortunate case of lots of things running together – the electrics have not done that before and the bathroom blinds are being replaced. I will investigate the bedding and the carpet – thank you for your comments.I do wish you had voiced such things at the time of your stay so they could have been remedied, or instead you could have been moved to our Morning Room (inside the main house) which might have been more to your liking. I wish you well :)

Hi Sandesh thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and I'm sorry that you seem not to have been perfectly satisfied with your stay – I wish you had let us know at the time of your stay, or perhaps left some comments in your review detailing how things could have been improved for you. Nonetheless, I wish you well!
Lovely character property with a big room. Mungo was very accomodating and helpful throughout our stay. As it is an old property it was a little chilly in the morning.

Hi Rebecca thanks for your stay and review! It was a pleasure hosting you, and next time more than happy to adjust the thermostat and/or show you how to work the gas fireplace :)
Beautiful setting. We got a very warm welcome. Room felt very private as we had our own front door. Room was much bigger than we expected, we had a sofa, TV, fireplace and large comfy bed. Felt very homely. Accommodated for our dietary requirements too. We stayed for a nearby wedding but would definitely stay again if needed. Only thing I would do differently is booking in a massage with Mungo earlier. I left it last minute to ask and he was booked up, so if you fancy a massage during your stay ask early. They were very helpful and friendly. Thank you for the stay!

Lovely - glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for taking the time to leave a review!
I stayed in the Orange room and paid £90 for the night. This room is in a converted outbuilding. The room was large but cold on arrival and smelt musty. It was heated by means of a single oil filled electric radiator which did eventually take the chill off. The en-suite has a timber door which opens to the outside and was freezing. The door to the en-suite was ill fitting and needs force to be closed. There were no toiletries and the towels were medium sized Matalan brand. The décor needs refreshing with flaking paintwork in places and some cobwebs. Furnishing makes use of reused items with cheap blinds and curtains. There is no external light to the room so on returning late I needed to use my phone torch and witnessed the sight of rats scurrying from the poultry area. I was then kept awake for most of the night by the sounds of rats running across the ceiling. Breakfast was delivered to the room rather than being taken in the main house and was a single poached egg on a piece of sourdough bread. In summary I had booked what I thought was a boutique hotel because my wife intended accompanying me, but was pleased in the end that she hadn't. I am at a loss to understand the previous reviews and next time will stick to the tried and tested budget chains such as Premier Inn.

I am very sorry to read that your experience was so radically different from previous guests'. We try our utmost to offer a comfortable, enjoyable experience. We are not a boutique hotel, but rather a working permaculture farm offering B&B spaces with character.
As such, we are trying to do our bit for the environment: the UK Department of Energy & Climate Change's #1 energy-saving behaviour is to turn thermostats down to 18˚C, which saves thousands of kWh per year and reduces carbon emissions. However of course our first priority is your comfort, and I would have been more than happy to provide another heater had you requested it (it also appeared afterwards that you had accidentally turned the heater down to 'minimum' which I imagine will not have helped). I'm sorry you didn't notice the en-suite's fan heater (on the wall and detailed in the welcome booklet), which gets the bathroom roasty toasty within a couple of minutes. And toiletries are kept in the mirror cabinet above the sink (detailed in the welcome booklet). I'm sorry the rural farm setting was not to your liking, and that you did not enjoy my homemade sourdough with organic fresh-picked salad and fresh-laid eggs (couldn't be fresher!), with homemade tomato ketchup. There were also other options on the menu (including bacon) if you would have preferred something different.
Our 1913 farmhouse is indeed not a Premier Inn for which we are grateful. I hope you find what you are looking for next time. I wish you well :)
I checked in after dark and left just after dawn so didn't see much of the place, but room I had was clean, comfy and warm.
Mungo, the host, was friendly and welcoming and happy to sort out an alternative breakfast due to my early start.
Would definitely stay again if in the area.
there is nothing to fault this place. its peaceful, relaxing, interesting, environmentally concious. the breakfast was delivered to the suite bang on time and was rediculously delicious. i'd stay here again even if its out of my way.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a score, and I hope next time to benefit from a full review detailing what you liked and what could be improved :)
We stayed here over our wedding weekend, and we couldn't recommend it more. The room was large and very tastefully decorated, comfortable and very well-equipted. Mungo was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble and he accommodated all our odd requests. The location is beautiful, and so close to lots of amenities. We had an excellent stay, and would return. Loved it!

Easy & friendly check in, early start in the morning so I was left cereal & fruit in the room for breakfast, tea & coffee. Very nice house and gardens. Peaceful setting
