I normally enjoy staying at The Bird In Hand; friendly staff, good food & Oh so clean! - This time however, the bedroom at night was too cold & the thin duvet was of summer weight. there was no blanket in the wardrobe so I spent the night with a sweater over my nightclothes & a coat on top of the duvet & still felt cold. It is winter now & these problems should have been addressed.

Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was nice. Very large portions. No option for lighter meals. Room was nice and warm, bed was comfortable, my only gripe was the amount of cobwebs on the ceiling, down the sides of furniture and wardrobe. Can’t comment on breakfast because we felt it was a little expensive and choose to eat elsewhere.

I've stayed at 'The Bird's a couple of times when visiting the Lotus factory. The staff are soo friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. This even applies when half the factory decend on the pub, some want feeding and at half term. All this with only a couple of staff (because it should be a quiet Tuesday evening), but despite that still friendly, accommodating and always serving great food. The rooms are very spacious, quiet and comfortable as well.

Stayed at the Bird in Hand for four nights in August 2023. The accommodation which is in a separate block to the pub was lovely, room was really spacious, generally clean and tidy. All main amenities provided, hairdryer, iron and board, tea/coffee making facilities, some small toiletries and a range of towels including large bath sheets. The pub is great, we had Sunday lunch and breakfast on one day and it was excellent, service was really good and I would definitely recommend them for food or a relaxing drink. The room was cleaned daily but only if out of your room by 10:30am, if not, it’s not cleaned, we left one day at 10:45am and it wasn’t cleaned by the time we returned at 10pm. The accommodation is in the countryside so spiders expected but there were a lot of cobwebs, some of the cobwebs covered the whole corner of the room and behind the bedside table, so we had to clear those out before we could even access the sockets, need to pay more attention to the cobwebs to ensure they don’t build up too badly. A new spider was in the top right corner above the bed every night we returned. Also, a lot of spider webs/nest in the corner behind the door, so these are clearly not part of the routine. Tea/coffee choice was good, but wasn’t restocked daily so after the first two days the two decaf tea bags were gone. Glass bottle of still and sparkling water provided on day one but not refreshed. Overall, a lovely stay, just needs a bit more consideration for cobwebs.

Twelve out of Ten
I stay at a lot of hotels in the course of my work and although this stay was a personal one, I can say that it was excellent on any measure. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, the room spacious, impecably clean and with all the provisions that you would expect. I would highly recommend this hotel / accommodation, which to put into context is the first time over many years where I have felt it appropriate to do so.

Very good value for money. Welcoming and a nice restaurant with pretty decent spread of options. Room was very spacious and clean. Photos don’t do the rooms justice, mine was twice the size of a standard hotel room. Parking was very easy. Hotel is out on it’s own. So not ideal for anyone who wants to walk to bars/restaurants, but for a few nights or as a base to cover the region it’s a good option.

We booked a table for Sunday at 1645 for 7+2 children and the family arrived on time. We ordered pretty promptly and waited about 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Breakfast on Monday morning (paid separately) similar. Arrived for breakfast at 08:05 (advertised start time 08:00) and food arrived 08:45. Limited selection of breakfast cereal - 2 options only Plenty of flies in the dining areas on both occasions Room really good and quiet We’ve eaten here several times before and always been impressed - this time somewhat disappointed.

Nice clean, comfortable room, and pub food very good. Wi-Fi a bit dodgy, and latest check-in was only 10pm before the pub closed. Also breakfast not served until after 8am which could be an issue for some.

Hotels.com advertised the room at an incorrect price which we discovered on arrival. We were put in a room for disabled access which we had not been informed of. The room was clean & tidy but more like a Travelodge - spartan. There were no shelves to put clothes on, there were two chairs which were small, uncomfortable and too high to sit on. There was no lighting by them so unable to sit and read. No disabled person could mange to sit in the chairs. There was no shelf in the bathroom wide enough for toiletries bag etc. We couldn't open the windows as ground floor and no security latch. Altogether not designed with the visit in mind.

Lovely comfortable, clean room. Great facilities and plenty of tea options 👍 My only complaint is that I rang to tell them two people would be staying in the room and not one and when we checked out they wanted an extra £10 as they had put another bed in the room. I hadn't asked for it, no one asked when I rang if I wanted another bed or said it would cost more! We were happy to share a bed, so obviously didn't pay it and was a bit annoyed by it really!! Also no signal to call taxis and bar member wouldn't just ring one for us! Taxis pretty impossible to come by too so bear in mind if you need to get anywhere!
