"Based on the great reviews I read, I decided to book this hotel and instantly regretted it. I’m from NYC and travel frequently with my partner. We don’t always need something glamorous, but cleanliness is non-negotiable. The moment I walked in, I thought, “Okay… this is fine.” But when we entered the room, it smelled musty and the carpet looked unclean, I immediately felt misled. I was genuinely disappointed and, although I hated losing the money, I had to check out. The counters in the lobby area were dirty; the elevators and walls were banged up and scratched .... very dated. We’ve stayed in many hotels in Japan, and this one did not meet expectations. If cleanliness is important to you, I would recommend staying elsewhere. YOTEL Ginza is the same price and was much cleaner and more pleasant. When I checked out, the front desk staff were polite but very busy and overwhelmed. They didn’t ask why I was leaving early and instead later called to say the booking was non-refundable and asked if I was checking out soon. Since it wasn’t refundable, I wasn’t sure why the rush to get me out. When I went back downstairs, it was clear how busy they were, and I understand they likely wanted to turn the room over quickly..but overall, the experience was very unpleasant."

"The staff here is 100% bilingual and very good about helping foreigners not only book their stays but navigate Japan. No problems at all. The hotel service and room cleaning was impressive and thorough as I've ever seen at a hotel. The only downside I'd say here is the rooms are small. And I think that's more to do with Japanese hotels in this area. I was out and about so much I didn't really notice, but that's a real concern, especially if you're staying with other people. Breakfast was great. They had Western and Japanese offerings and both were delicious! Shinjuku is very much big city Tokyo -- it felt like NYC at times. The environment is lively and the nights were surprisingly quiet. I'd recommend this spot to travelers, especially those under 40."

"The hotel is in a convenient area of Shinjuku with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The staff was friendly, and the room was clean. However, the room was quite small, making it difficult to fully open large luggage. The room also felt a bit dated, and the portable AC unit wasn't powerful enough to keep the room comfortably cool. While the location is good, it's not quite as close to the train station as we expected, so be prepared for a 15-20 minutes walk. Overall, it was a good stay for the price and location."
