Great
Stayed one night for B&B. Staff very attentive and helpful. Food excellent and would highly recommend. The location is lovely with great views. We stayed in a superior room, which was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The only thing I would suggest would be that the room could do with refurbishment as the decor and bathroom were a bit outdated compared to some of the rooms on the Website. Would definitely return to the hotel.

Lovely stay
Love the area, Clough Manor is a lovely hotel . Only thing needs desperately is a little tender love and care, little bit of touch ups and repairs here and there. The staff where fantastic, friendly and couldn’t do enough. Breakfast was 10/10

It's the little things that matter
Booked for a 1 night stay and after a long drive I arrived at 21:30. No one present to greet you as you arrive so I had to go searching for a member of staff. The person who did book me in lacked manners and offered no information on the hotel facilities, breakfast times etc....all fairly basic stuff. I had to ask all the questions?!?! The journey to Room 20 was entertaining as the lights didn't seem to work in the dark corridor! Had to feel my way along the wall to find a light switch. The room was dimly lit and there was a smell of dampness. The furniture is drink-stained, the table lamp nearly fell apart in my hand as I tried to switch it on and the toilet was a throw back to the 80's with its artexed ceiling! The yellow staining all over the bath, mould spores on the ceiling and damp wood along the skirtings need to be addressed!! Then there was the TV. a Sky remote is supplied and will switch the tv on but the tv cannot read the signal from the 'box' and therefore you require the original tv remote to search for this........and search for it I did (and part of me wished I hadn't bothered) behind the dressing table - filthy, behind the bedside table - filthy and then pulled back the curtains to the french doors - dampness on the wall adjacent to the door! Breakfast wasn't the best. 2 slices of toast, juice, poor coffee and a yoghurt. Others around me were being offered food from the kitchen. Think they forgot about me - lol.

Minor details
Its a very nice hotel, bar and restaurant are great, the night manager, Lizzy, exceptional, a great asset. My only niggle was the shower, in this day and age, the very least i would expect would be an electric shower, especially as the cold water pressure is so low, the shower head/handle, is so close to the wall, the water dribbles out, there is no thermostat, so you either have it scolding hot, or boiling hot, as the room i stayed in (9) had little to no cold water, shame really.

The dining and bar areas are well presented, stylish and modern. The room was clean and nice. The staff were helpful and friendly. However breakfast really let the hotel down. The portions were tiny! I asked for beans and scrambled egg with vegetarian sausage. I had literally 20 beans! A tiny portion of egg. And my single vegetarian sausage tasted like it had been cooked in the meat pan!!! Worrying as a vegetarian. Cereals were in pots but with no utensils, I saw one guest wrist deep fishing his cereal out by hand, hygienic it is not!! We left and paid for food in a local village. Such a shame, potential to be great.

Pleasant hotel, great staff!
The hotel itself is extremely decent for the price with a comfy bed and Sky TV, you can't really go wrong, even had a little shared garden. Interesting food at the restaurant which we really enjoyed, and quite good price too. The thing that made our stay great though were the staff, who were extremely welcoming and helpful, even offering to give us a lift to a train station as we had our car at a garage and everything is quite far away if you were to walk.

this was my third visit to the clough manor and now is under new leadership since my last time here no deed to worry, it still meets all my expectations and more, the new menu is good and the new chef i expect is a real asset to the hotel it was by know means bad before but you won't be dissapointed.

A 2 day stay for business. Early January so very quiet. Excellent wi-fi (FREE) everywhere in the hotel. Ample parking. Service was spot-on. TV in bedroom has most Sky channels but not Sport. Brilliant full English breakfast. An inexpensive choice with excellent service.

New management had taken over the week before we came and I must say, we really enjoyed our time there. Food was fab, customer service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Can't wait to come again. Thanks guys :)

booked one of the more expensive rooms. The room was lovely but the bathroom was dated and could have been cleaned to a higher standard. Helpful staff of you could find them however good value for money food was ok and would consider staying again for those reasons. Had a lot of potential!

Amazing views and fabulous food
The hotel sits on the side of the valley and has some amazing views. The staff were polite and friendly, the menu in the restaurant was different enough to be interesting without being over the top, the food was fabulous. The hotel has undergone some refurbishment with some work to be done, our room was lovely, very modern, the bathroom was a bit quaint by comparism, but nothing wrong with it.

Lovely Hotel but......
The rooms need updating especially the bathroom...cracked bath/tiles repaired...old bathroom suite. Bar/restaurant lovely (doesn't match the bedroom) unfortunately I found the hotel extremely noisy and struggled to sleep. The staff were very courteous and polite. Expensive given the lack of sleep and poor condition of bathroom.

A Hidden Gem!
I was recommended this hotel by my colleague who was with me also. The views from the rooms and the front were spectacular. The hotel has been refurbished mostly so it was both modern and traditional styling. Staff were very friendly and helpful during our 3 night stay. Although we were there on business, I would definitely stay there with my family!

We had a one night's stay here as part of a 28 day touring holiday. Without doubt the most disappointing. Their website states Sunday dinner served until 8:30pm upon arrival we were told if we want dinner we will need to dine at 6pm. No choice but to eat out and at 9.50pm we receive a phone call to inform us that the hotel will be closing at 10pm.and we should let ourselves in. Website says bar closes at 11.00pm and having to drive out to eat I was hoping for a beer or two in the bar....not to be. The rooms are fairly dark and dimly lit and the bathroom in need of TLC. Insecure bidet, loose fittings, missing plugs, poor grout and silicone condition to tiles. TV size more suited to a teenager's bedsit. On the plus side bed was comfortable and they served possibly the best breakfast we have had so far

Great hotel, bathroom needs updating
We stayed in this hotel for one night in May 2015, while visiting the area for a wedding. The location is very pleasant, at the edge of a small village on the moors and a short (< 10 min drive) from the M62. We were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist, who was very courteous and who also offered to book a taxi for us to take us to the wedding venue a few miles away. We had a 'four-poster' room, which had a comfortable bed, plenty of space (sofa, TV, tea/coffee making) and was nice a quiet. WiFi was free, and worked well on our phones. The only down-side of the room was the bathroom, which was very dated (avocado bathroom suite), poorly lit and had very low water pressure on the (over-bath) shower. We did note a strange 'rule' written in the hotel information pack regarding it being forbidden to eat or drink anything in the room that isn't purchased from the hotel, and that there would be a "charge" imposed if this was breached. We had taken a bottle of prosecco with us, as a treat during our night away from home(!), which we drank. We just packed the empty bottle and took it home with us. I don't think the information regarding this rule appears on the hotels.com booking page for the hotel. It is not clear what "charge" would be applied, or even if this is enforceable in reality given there is nothing in the hotels.com booking/contract about it. It is certainly not something I have ever seen at any other hotels.

This hotel has good bits or bad bits there's nothing in the middle. Views are great, bed really comfy, door entry cards work first time every time (a first for me). Good strong free wifi signal. Main meal in restaurant was outstanding, breakfast great as well. Rooms are dated circa 1990's style. Desert resembled something you would get four for a pound in Iceland yet was charged five pounds. Soft drink lemonade price was extortinate 7.60 for 1 litre! This alone would stop me from eating or drinking here again. Staff friendly and professional, but service could be quicker in all areas.

Great hotel all staff including owners are great especially Richard the manager who gave us a lift into another town for an evening out to save us getting a taxi,views from rooms are fantastic ,food was excellent as was wine and beer choice ,can not fault this place or the staff ,we will be back see u all soon .

Good Hotel, especially with dogs
We stayed here during heavy snowfalls. Whilst the hotels location is rural, and quite a way up the hillside, the staff made every effort to ensure we were comfortable. Paul, the maintenance man, was out early clearing a path to the road. Important to note that the roads are gritted from the hotel entrance in both directions, so we had no problem accessing the motorway, or the city centre. We were working in Manchester city centre and it was great to get out into the countryside after a days work.

Staff good and helpful, room a little tired,room only has patio doors so they cannot be left open over night for any fresh air. Beer prices very high. Good quality food for four out of the five nights. One night not so good.

A warm welcome.
A warm welcome was given, taken to the room and showen its contents. The evening meals and breakfast were very good quality and reasonably priced. Altogether a nice atmosphere and surrounds with friendly staff, the veiws of the moor from the dinning/breakfast room are picturesque, shame about the weather. It must be really somthing in the summer.
