"Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Cherry Tree. The room and place were lovely and quite modern considering how old the building is. "Enjoyable two night stay. Very warm, which made the pool a godsend. Breakfast was a bit cramped and bland, if I was being picky. Lovely room, great bed and good size walk-in shower. Overall, a very definite thumbs up."

"Mediocre service by smug reception clerk. Truly aweful breakfast,no fruit, no yogurt (“the delivery didn’t turn up” - you’re 40 metres from Sainsbury’s!). A a coffee from “the machine” is extra. Bacon cooked to death the evening before. And surely scrambled egg is lesson one at catering college. A miserable experience. Never again."

"Gadbury Cottage what's the perfect base for our explorations. Everything was as pictured and described. A delicious (and still warm) loaf of brown bread welcomed weary travelers along with tea, milk, and sugar. The beds were comfortable. Everything was spotless. We only wish the weather had been better so we could have enjoyed the lovely garden more.Tip: We found that if we entered Our Lady of Lourdes, Catholic Church, Wheatley, into the GPS, it was easy to find."

"Duncan and Diana were lovely hosts, Diana even bringing out a child’s ride on tractor after hearing that our three year old grandson adores tractors.The barn was beautifully converted, with quality materials and lovely linens, and had everything we needed.Communication was excellent.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!Thank you!"

"Great pub based hotel, very nice room and comfy bed. Attention to detail was excellent. Oak milk, nespresso style coffee in room. Very nice breakfast, friendly locals and staff. Great beer and food on the evening. Only thing is they only serve food until 8.15pm and bar shuts at 10pm but not really a problem if you know about it and plan"

"I am wary of doing chain hotels but chose to stay here due to the location and the fact it boasted a "fitness facility". The location was convenient as it was sited at a Welcome Break services. I was able to park close to the entrance. I was warmly greeted but on checking in found out that there was a separate £5 charge for overnight parking which was not disclosed at the outset of booking the accommodation. There were multiple dining options either within the services complex or at the hotel restaurant. I over-indulged but was happy to work it off in the gym area. This turned out to be a delusional expectation as the fitness room comprised of a few hand weights which did not go up to more than about 5kg. I usually do cardio on the treadmill but the one they had there was not working so my attempt to work off excess calories was a bust. In certain parts of the corridors there was an aroma which felt more synonymous with parts of Amsterdam. I usually rate my stays based on the triumvirate criteria of shower, sleep and breakfast. The first two were great and the breakfast buffet quite average. I personally believe that this stay did not represent good value for money with the tipping point being the "gym". I would not look to stay here again."

"From start to finish - we enjoyed every single second! We spent 3 nights here for my Mums wedding and it was perfect. The barn itself is beautiful, the horses & dogs on your doorstep made it feel like a real life country dream and the owners Jane and Steve were incredible. I can’t wait to visit again!!!"

"It is quite dated, it could really do with having some money spent of it. Feels as if it’s not been updated or even had a coat of paint in the last 10 years. I stayed in an executive room, lots of marks on the walls, damaged furniture and it was just very tired. WiFi in the rooms is terrible. Staff waiting on tables and in the bar did t seem like they wanted to be there, no one checked if my food was ok, or if I needed anything "
