Showers in the onsen are cold and you have to wait for many minutes in order for hot water to come out. "This very new seeming property was excellent and I'd certainly choose it again for another stay at Besshoonsen. Room was and clean relatively spacious, the three private spas worked well (although the hotel was not full when I stayed). Meals were delicious, dinner and breakfast, and sensible quantities. If you're thinking of an overnight here a) you should come - it is a lovely old town and b) this place has your back for a bit of onsen magic while you are here."

"The Celecton is a nice, standard Japanese hotel. The rooms are small, but they are practical, very clean and amenities are good. If you want a hotel that is close to the Castle then this is a good one, but it is 10-15 minutes walk to the train station, restaurants, and the other attractions in Matsumoto. My room was facing the Castle but directly above a busy road, so it was quite noisy."

"I stayed at the JAL for 8 nights and was happy with the service. The location is great as it is a short walk to Zenkoji Temple, the Prefectural Museum and also to Nagano JR Station. Nagano was a fascinating city to visit and the JAL was situated in a good location for finding amenities such as shopping and food. I love to walk and I really enjoyed exploring the area around the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Although my room was rather crowded with 3 beds, it was kept clean and well stocked. My only complaint was that the breakfast for a Westerner was very limited and got predictable very quickly. The food was very good, presented well and tasted fine but after 8 breakfasts eating the same things I was ready for a change."
