George and Sue were lovely hosts. Room was very comfortable and spacious. Bathroom was very nice and clean. The fan was very much appreciated given the unseasonably hot weather. Breakfast was very good, cereals, toast, breads, cold cuts etc.
From the moment we stepped off the train in Tisbury and spotted our host George's smiling face, we immediately felt like lost cousins come to visit.
The free lift to the spacious and comfortable Hare Lodge was a welcome rest from journey over from Canada, and saved us the effort of lugging our hiking gear and baggage through the lovely village of Tisbury, just one stop past the storied city of Salisbury in the West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Located just a 10 minute walk from Tisbury village centre in Tuckingmill, Hare Lodge is a fabulous home base from which to head out on the extensive (and beautiful) public rights of way that are webbed throughout the countryside.
When you descend after a night in your generously appointed room, you are immediately met with the heady scent of warm butter that can only come from croissants. Home made muesli, cereals, and fresh berries are just the start as the aforementioned croissant, rolls, charcuterie, and hard boiled eggs make their way to the table with a proper pot of strong tea.
George and Sue are the perfect hosts, showing genuine interest and offering excellent advice and service.
We cannot recommend Hare Lodge enough, and we look forward to our next visit!
Everything was perfect.
Above & beyond what we expected.
Hosts very friendly and professional.
Will be telling all our friends about this beautiful place.
I would highly recommend Hare Lodge. The owners are so welcoming and cannot do enough for you, offering to give me a lift to my work venue. I felt relaxed, comfortable and very welcome. The house is so clean and nicely decorated and the room I stayed in was like a little apartment with bedroom, living room and bathroom. I could work in the evenings in peace with beautiful surroundings - a lovely place.
Wonderful B&B! The proprietors were friendl, welcoming and extremely helpful. The room was roomy, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was filling and very delicious. We only stayed one night becauseof our schedule, but wished we could stay much longer.
Stayed at Hare Lodge to facilitate a visit to Stonehenge. Hare Lodge is a very well maintained dwelling decorated to a high standard. The Hosts are very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was excellent.
We found the place very relaxing and just the type of place that we enjoy. We shall definitely be returning and we would highly recommend Hare Lodge to anyone.
Fantastic little B&B in a little town not too far from Stonehenge or Bath. The room has all the small touches and No detail was missed. Room decor was pretty, bathroom had little soaps, free wifi, nice balcony, good lighting, lots of space, loads of reading about things to see in the area. Owners George and Sue are very welcoming. They provided a great recommendation for dinner and also provide a wonderful breakfast.
This B&B surpassed all of my expectations - beautiful house, lovely room, super comfy bed, delicious breakfast, lovely surroundings. The owners can't do enough for you - would definitely stay again.
This was my first stay and even arriving in the dark, Google maps took me direct to the door. (Always good when travelling alone in a new area.) On arrival was greeted warmly and helped with my luggage to a beautifully decorated bedroom. Fresh milk available which is always appreciated when away from home. The breakfast was cooked to order and you could tell ingredients were of high quality. Lovely selection of fruit, yoghurt and cereal too. Overall one of the best B&B's in the area and I'm looking forward to working near there again so I have an excuse to relax in a superb location with wonderful hosts. Thank you.
This was the prettiest room of all the B&Bs we stayed at in England. Lovely hosts and nice amenities. My only complaint is that it was in a very out-of-the-way village (that's why I rated it lower on neighborhood). This might be attractive to some, but we found it difficult to locate and farther from Stonehenge than we had hoped. Also, since we were unaccustomed to driving on the other side of the road, we were nervous about exploring the area with its narrow lanes.
The best B&B experience ever!
Sue and George were extremely helpful and accommodating. Room was peaceful, very clean and set a tone "home away home" from beginning. After relaxing rest the morning run at the nearby fields was great and breakfast with local bacon and sausages very enjoyable.
I would highly recommend Hare Lodge to both single travellers and families as they have two great room options that can accommodate all the needs. I will definitely come back next time with my family! Can't wait.
Very welcoming hosts with lots of local information - very tastefully furnished room great to have a balcony with lovely view of garden - very peaceful location would definitely stay again if we return to the area
We booked Hare Lodge for a mini break away from Essex to visit Longleat and the surrounding areas.
Sue and George have easily got to be the most accomodating hosts we've encountered, nothing was too much trouble for them and they were glad to help in any way they could.
We arrived around 7:30-8:00pm on the Thursday evening to a lovely, warm welcome from Sue and was shown to our beautiful room.
The room was modern but homely, refreshing blue tones throughout the room with everything you could need including toiletries, water, towels and yummy coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits along with a fresh bottle of milk. There is also a beautiful balcony that looks over the garden where you can enjoy a glass of wine or two in the evening.
Sue and George serve the most delicious breakfast, we opted for the cooked breakfast over the continental and it was beautiful! All locally sourced produce including some truly scrumptious sausages, bacon and bread! You must try Sue's homemade plum jam too!
George was happy to check the weather for us ahead of our visit to Longleat and even fixed us an umbrella to take with us incase we needed it.
We head to Longleat at least every other year as we love it and have without doubt found our accomodation for future visits.
Thank you Sue and George, it was such a pleasure! See you soon! Craig and Josie xx
