"Lovely castle. With great views! Room nice however Bathroom in room was a cupboard which let the room down. Breakfast was nice however overpriced for a limited selection, would be nice to have eggs royale for example. Also staff were very mixed on what was and wasn’t gluten free… a vegetarian breakfast was served instead. Not worth £17.50. "
"I’m not saying my stay at this hotel was chaotic, but I’m fairly sure I experienced a full escape room challenge before I even got inside.
On arrival, I wasn’t able to check in and was left standing outside for a solid 15 minutes, which really gave me time to reflect on my life choices—and the weather. Eventually, I made it in, only to discover that the bedroom door latch didn’t actually lock. No problem though, because the solution involved the staff member calling her husband, who arrived armed with a drill and screwdriver like some sort of emergency DIY superhero. Nothing says “relaxing stay” quite like impromptu home repairs.
The excitement didn’t stop there. The shower flooded, turning the bathroom into a paddling pool (sadly, no inflatable included). The bedside lamp wasn’t charged either, so mood lighting was replaced with “sit in the dark and think about things.”
And finally, breakfast. You’re asked to pre-order using a form—very organised in theory—except for the minor detail that no pen is provided. I can only assume interpretive dance is an acceptable alternative.
All in all, it was less “hotel stay” and more “unexpected adventure weekend.” Would I return? Only if I needed material for a comedy routine."
"I would class this hotel as ‘olde worlde’…..
So anyone wanting modern it probably isn’t for you.
Lots of interesting passages and stairs, and flagstone floors add to the atmosphere.
Shower and bathroom very clean, TV, excellant, tea and coffee available in rooms.
Breakfast ok, I wouldn’t say outstanding.
Rather solid scrambled egg, bacon had obviously been cooked a little while and was tough.
Coffee, brought in a jug was always lukewarm warm by the time I got to it!
Evening menu very restricted., so I only had two dinners out of
four.
The staff were pleasant, but seemed a bit disorganised on occasions.
I wouldn’t stay again, despite it being very easy to access Glorious Trebarwith Strand."
Luxury Apartment with Spectacular sea views Close to Boscastle/Tintagel
10/10 Excellent
"This property is much bigger than it appears on thé web site ,the bedroom with its 4 poster bed is spacious and has a view of the sea . The question ‘ is the bed comfortable’ is the biggest worry when on holiday, this bed was very comfortable indeed !
This property fills all the boxes but where it scores over most of the others is the attention to the fine details . Nothing is left to chance, we couldn’t find anything that had been overlooked. One could write a essay on its attributes. We enjoyed our stay immensely and the only problem was that we couldn’t stay for longer."
"I really enjoyed staying in this peaceful cottage, this is the second time I have stayed here. I slept very well in the comfy four poster bed and it's lovely not being troubled by light pollution. The coastal path is very close, and also a beautiful walk through the wooded valley to the waterfall. I had the option of using the log burner but found the cottage was cosy enough. There is lots to see and do in the area, but I chose to walk from the cottage every day, sketchbook in hand. I hope to return. "
