15. Charming cottage near lovely Stamford with cosy open fire and a rural location.

Stamford, near Easton-on-the-Hill

"A very comfortable cottage. Excellent enclosed garden if you have a dog and great walks within 200 yards of the cottage to the 'deeps' or beyond to at least two longer distance paths. Stamford is ten minutes away and if yoir visiting family in the area its a great base with good road links. We had our break at half term (February) the cottage is well heated with a log burning fire!....we bought extra logs from Morrisons in Stamford (about £8 a bag).Bob and Sarah provided a great welcome pack...

16. Fallow Cottage - 3 bedroom, Stamford centre

Lincolnshire

"The property is OK if you plan to stay for a day or two. We stayed for a month and found it too small and too cluttered. It almost felt as if the owner had moved out the day before with lots of ‘stuff’ (food etc) in cupboards! There is only one bathroom/toilet on the ground floor only and the stairs are very tight and quite steep with bannisters that are loose. It is also right on the busy street and therefore very noisy from traffic. It is however in a great location with Stamford shops/pubs...

Barton Hall Hotel & Spa

8/10 Good

"A great place to stay if your on a business tripmas I was or looking to book yourself a treat. Great room, although note I was in room 5 which lovely, but was over the outside part where music is piped to people sitting outside. This didn't switch off until about 11pm. Aside from that top hotel"

The Talbot Hotel, Oundle, Northamptonshire

10/10 Excellent

"Receptionists were very welcoming, informative and friendly. We found all staff to be friendly and helpful. The bar staff worked extremely hard, and dealt with the volume of customers in a friendly, respectful and professional manner. Breakfast and service were very good, staff friendly and helpful. My only very small grip would be the quality of the black pudding, very poor and too thin to be called ‘black pudding’. I was very disappointed, as it’s my favourite breakfast item. Delighted with our room, very clean, well presented, lovely decor, everything worked really well, we especially enjoyed the powerful shower. We would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend this hotel to all our family and friends. Thank you for helping in making our stay a memorable one with our very dear friends. Chris & Genny - Stayed 24 - 26 September 2026."

William Cecil

8/10 Good

"Just returned for a 3 night break at The William Cecil. It is a charming, old hotel ideally situated for a walk into Stamford or as a base to explore the region. It is clean and well maintained with plenty of parking. All the staff we encountered during our stay were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. We had a small, "Cosy" room which, again, was clean with a large, comfortable bed. The only downside was the absence of storage for clothes which meant we were living out of a suitcase. The was no wardrobe or drawers and the only cupboard was taken by the tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. Four hangers on two coat hooks fixed to the door to the room is inadequate for a four star hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Freshly cooked food served by cheerful staff was a definite plus. All in all a good break and would definitely stay again although would probably opt for a larger room"
