Had a great week long stay - day tripping in all directions. Great central spot to visit both Cotswolds and Salisbury Plain! Hosts were great. We were the first guests of the season and so were the test run. No big issues. Had a great time, Jo and James were great hosts

Lovely country cottage
Directions and arrival instructions were accurate and easy to follow. The cottage is well appointed and spacious. Access to the upstairs bathroom is a little restricted but not a significant problem. As mentioned in the owners description, transport is required as there is nothing in the immediate area. However this means it's a lovely quiet countryside environment. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage and the lovely area.

Cosy cottage in a peaceful location. Kitchen equipment was totally acceptable but would benefit from an upgrade. An ideal rental for people who like nature, birds and wildlife. James and Jo were very welcoming and helpful.

Ideal location and facilities. Two separate bedrooms each with own bathroom facilities and space to independently watch tv/relax/IT if necessary and socialise comfortably in the shared open plan dining/kitchen/lounge area. Wonderful hosts and superb grounds. A delightful view from every window. Loved it!!

Charming country cottage
Spacious 2 bedroom cottage offered by friendly hosts with Ducks,Horses and Sheep for neighbours. Ideal quiet , relaxing.rural location on edge of Cotswolds in easy reach of many places to visit, shop and eat. We had glorious weather all week and dined outsde every night on the decking beside the large pond.

A special place where you can connect with nature.
The owners live in the main house in close proximity and were welcoming, friendly, helpful and approachable without being intrusive. The grounds (in which we were free to roam) around the cottage are amazing and are home to three horses (and their stables), runner ducks and sheep in a peaceful setting. And there is a lovely big pond at the back of the cottage where breakfast can be enjoyed on a large patio deck. The cottage itself is well equipped and perfect for a couple or a couple with two children. Four adults may find it a little cosy. I am 6’5” in old money and found that head and shoulder room moving around upstairs could be a little awkward but a minor inconvenience considering everything on offer. We certainly enjoyed our week here with plenty to do and see in the area.

Amazing Cottage
Communication was fantastic before we even arrived. Jo and James are incredibly nice. Their daughters are delightful. They all made us feel at home from the start. The cottage is so lovely and much larger than I had anticipated. It was fully stocked with everything we could need for our two week stay. Lots of storage and closet space. The WiFi was super fast. We were able to work from the cottage with no issues. The property is so much more beautiful than I had anticipated (and I had high expectations). The pictures do not do it justice. I can not say enough good things about Nell Cottage and Jo and James. Thank you for making our two week quarantine easy.

A GREAT GET AWAY FROM IT ALL LOCATION
Spent a great week at this property, set in lovely grounds. Perfect for a family who want to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful location, but still want to be near local attractions for days out. The cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing week away, including a fully stocked kitchen which made self-catering very easy. We loved seeing the wildlife, rabbits, herons, coots and horses in the grounds and around the large pond. Thank you James and family for letting us share your wonderful property and making us feel so welcome.

Great location and relaxing environment
Enjoyed our stay at the cottage despite weather not being ideal for August. So close to many attractions, towns and cities close by. We visited Bath, Oxford and Stratford up on Avon whilst there and enjoyed them all. We also visited some of the smaller cotswolds villages which were also very nice too.

Fantastic family favourite!
We had a great time at this fantastic place- our favourite family holiday home! James, Jo and their girls were brilliant hosts- they managed to convert our urban boys to nature admirers. A special mention for the garden- we as a family spent most of our time there.

Bliss in the Cotswolds
The Nell Cottage is just as pictured online. It is tranquil and serene and a good location from which to base your explorations. Jo and the girls were charming and very helpful and we loved meeting Freddy and Maggy, their two horses! Really the only things we thought were missing was soap in the bathrooms and washcloths (which we Americans like to have for bathing) and salt and pepper in the kitchen. Hopefully, we'll be able to return someday as we fell in love with the whole area 💜!

Fantastic Week! Would love to visit again!
What a great week have just had at Nell House. Jo, James and the girls were fantastic hosts, on hand when you needed anything but afforded us with plenty of privacy. Our children had a lovely time playing together and were so well behaved! The cottage was fully equipped and very comfortable, even the broadband speeds were out of this world! The grounds are absolutely stunning. It is a great location to explore the wider countryside, an hour from Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath, just 15 minutes from Cotswold Water Park and many, many National Trust spots only a short drive away. In addition to being very much in the countryside you are only a 20 minute drive into Swindon (which has the biggest Supermarket we have ever seen, very handy to stock up on supplies). I would certainly recommend Nell House to friends and family and would absolutely look to stay again if we ever visited that part of England again. Thank you for a wonderful week!

A place to chill
Property information and places to visit/eat extremely good and useful, directions spot on. Property and location idyllic and a real place to chill. Landlords welcoming and friendly. Easy to access towns Swindon and Cirencester with outlet malls and shopping. Good location for local eating with plentiful selections in surrounding Highworth and other villages. Plenty nearby activities to suit all ages. We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay.

Clean comfortable and quiet.
After 10 days I was almost sad to leave. The cottage was a perfect size for a family of four. The location slightly off the beaten path ticked our boxes. We had a warm and friendly greeting that lasted throughout our stay. I'm sure we will return at some point in the future.

Idyllic retreat
Really warm welcome from Jo and her young daughters. Beautiful surroundings and very comfortable, well equipped accommodation. Gas barbecue and god quality furniture on the large deck, which overlooks a pleasant water garden. A real country retreat in well cared for gardens, but so much to do when you explore the surrounding area. We would highly recommend Nell Cottage for a peaceful, but well located getaway.

A great base for a lovely family holiday!
From the moment we entered the driveway we knew we had picked a great location for a week in The Cotswolds. James and Jo were very welcoming and the cottage was well equipped with everything you could need. The gardens are beautiful and great for the children to explore whilst you enjoy the views of the pond from the decking. The location is so convenient for exploring the many attractions that the Cotswolds have to offer. A fantastic week - only wish we could have stayed longer!

lovely country cottage in beautiful location.
We loved the open plan cottage. It suited our needs perfectly as far as location and accommodation. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. We did find that we had to keep the heating turned up high as most of the heat went upstairs. (It must be said it was November). The actual location of the cottage is an idyllic country setting and the views over the pond are beautiful. Everything has been provided to ensure the enjoyment of your stay. The owners are nearby and are very friendly and helpful. I am quite sure that we will book this property again in the future.

You really couldn't find a more beautiful place to stay. Jo was so welcoming and helpful and we loved exploring the grounds and surrounding areas. A nature lover's paradise. Perfect spot for a real break
We've truly enjoyed our stay in the cottage at Nell House. The place is very peaceful, surroundings are beautiful. Hannington village,as James put it, very sleepy! Which was exactly what we were looking for. Good spot for nice day trips to Bath, Stonehenge, London and good walks/cycle tours in the beautiful nature. We had the unique experience of visiting the crop cycle which appeared right in Hannington during our stay in the cottage. A mind-puzzling experience, which we won't quickly forget. The cottage itself is very comfortable and cosy. Atmosphere was warm and very welcoming by our hosts. Thanks for the lovely time we had!

A Little Gem in the Cotswold countryside

Just what we were looking for....
As soon as you drive through the main gate the setting is absolutely amazing. We drove down the long driveway and first noticed the beautiful well maintained garden and pond, then the magnificent main house appears with it's typical Cotswold look. Just in front of the pond is the charming Cottage itself. (I wish I had taken some photos for reference, as I draw as a hobby and it would make for a lovely home Portrait!!) The Cottage was clean and well equipped even for those staying for a longer period. We arrived quite late and our first nights sleep was not very comfortable, however Jo went out the same day and purchased "mattress toppers" for all the beds which made a big difference. James and Jo were friendly and helpful throughout our short stay which confirms exellent customer service. We would recommend this property to friends and relatives and hope to return when visiting the area again.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and we do hope you return. The mattresses are a challenge for us as people's tastes differ so much - what one client likes another dislikes. All the mattresses were replaced this year and now also have thick toppers which will hopefully accommodate all tastes.

Beautiful well equipped cottage in a good location plenty of places to visit within a hour.
The cottage is well equipped clean and very comfortable. Enjoyed a wonderful week with my daughter son in law ànd granddaughter. She lived to visit the sheep every morning in the field behind the cottage to say good morning.. Just be aware that there is quite a bit of open water around the cottage and children would need constant supervision. But saying that it is so beautiful . The owners who live on sight were very nice .

Beautiful house and grounds. Perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat
Lovely cottage, lovely grounds, lovely people, lovely area. We had a great time at Nell House. Really enjoyed the surroundings at the property. So much so we spent two days just in the grounds enjoying the good weather, pond dipping and just chilling. Not much to do in Hannington itself as this is pretty much the middle of nowhere which is just what we wanted. There's lots to do in the surrounding area though and most things within half hour to an hours drive away at most. Loved the crocodile place. Driving the decent roads around the Cotswolds valleys with little traffic and lovely scenery. The wildlife park was very good too. River Thames was within easy reach and the swan just down the road, as recommended by our hosts was a pretty amazing meal. Would definitely return. Many thanks for a perfect holiday cottage.

Cotswold Holiday
We had a wonderful stay at Nell House Cottage, we arrived late but the owners provided perfect directions and the cottage was immaculately presented. What a delight to wake up to the noise of the birds and sheep from the surrounding fields. Such a wonderful morning, sitting on the back deck, overlooking the pond with a cup of tea, The cottage is well stocked with everything you could need and the owners were good enough to suggest food delivery stores who could deliver on time for our arrival as well as a stocked freezer for our use (pay as you go) if we needed. The pictures on the HomeAway site are accurate, as are the description, the owners were friendly and available to answer any questions and I would highly recommend this property to friends and relatives. You absolutely need a car, the cottage is off the beaten track. We enjoyed the food at the Jolly Tar pub although the landlord was a little grumpy.

This is a fabulous place to stay and to use as a base to see the cotswalds
The booking experience was efficient and all needed information was available before we left our home in Canada. The pictures of the cottage as seen on the web are exactly as they are in real time. All equipment for kitchen. bathrooms etc are first rate. Definitely would stay again and would recommend 100%

Highly recommend the Nell House Cottage for a quiet relaxing holiday in the Cotswolds.
We stayed at the Nell House Cottage for one week in June 2016. We had a wonderful quiet relaxing stay at the cottage. The grounds are beautiful and James and Jo were very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the Nell House Cottage. We visited many local villages and participated in some local events during our visit.

5 Stars for a 5 Star Holiday Destination
We have just spent our Easter holiday a Nell house and we could not have wished for better. Having done our homework on the area prior to coming so there were no problems with the rural location. We were met on first morning by the owner James just to give us a quick overview of the property prior to him going away for the weekend, he also left his contact details just in case there were any problems while he was away As for the property it had everything we could have needed for our weeks stay, all the appliances were easy to use, there could be an issue for some people about the shape of the ceiling on the first floor but it is more quirky than a hindrance and adds to the character of the property. There were sheep in the field behind and a pond in front with ducks and the occasional heron, and when the sun was out the decking was the perfect setting. The area has many varied locations and is an excellent base to explore whatever you are after, there is also an abundance of information at the cottage to plan your days out which is handy if you do not know the area. All in all we had a fantastic week and would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Beautiful Location, Excellent Property
I have stayed in the area in a number of places and this is certainly the nicest property in terms of location and facilities. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and modern. The kitchen is well equipped. The rooms are nicely furnished and the whole house is clean. The owners are very welcoming and the position of the property gives reasonable privacy. And the garden is just a delight. I have really enjoyed my stays!

More than phantastic
It was a very peaceful and wonderful time in Nell house with very gentle hosts. They helped us with words and deeds. The cottage was so cosy and clean. The pictures in the Internet were so fine but the reality outranged the pictures. The scene was very idyllic, so it was hard to go away. And we love the horses and the ducks.
