The staff were absolutely wonderful, they were so friendly and helpful. The staff at breakfast and lunch in the white hart were really helpful when I accidentally knocked a drink over. Also they were cooking more sausages at breakfast and the lady brought them to the table for us, which was really helpful meaning we didn’t have our food cold.
We're a party of 6. Happy with everything. Rooms comfy especially looking over courtyard. Evening meal in White Hart was excellent. Breakfast good. Felt comfy and restful and enjoyed. Would come back
If any cons....just a bit tired ,needs a bit of painting and refreshing. But overall...wonderful and a super area for National Trust properties and and areas of natural beauty
Dartington Hall is in a very pretty setting , the gardens were very impressive, building very historic, staff were all very pleasant. The overall experience did lack tho our room we stayed in wasn’t very clean .
Dining out at the local white hart pub on the Dartington hall estate was a bit disappointing has there were no GF options ? and thought it was a bit overpriced ?
The breakfast which is included is a buffet option again no GF options available . Unfortunately the breakfast was awful it was cold …. the dishes that the breakfast contents are kept in does not keep it warm . When paying over £100.00 for a nights stay it’s very unlikely would return .
Picturesque, serene and beautful. We were fortunate enough to get the 'Thomas' suite and it was idyllic. Thank you Dartington for providing such an enchanting setting for such a wonderful memory 🍃
Good spacious room with enormous double bed. Interesting listed grade 2 historic building and surroundings, with beautiful listed grade 2 garden.
Only quirky facility is the separate but private WC and shower.
The venue is historic and beautiful. The white hart inn provides a wonderful dining experience. Lots to do and lively grounds to explore.
A super wedding venue if we were to get married again!
This was a memorable pre-Christmas stay. The place has so much character and history. I was given a room overlooking the courtyard, which in the evenings was decked with lights, snow scenes projected on the buildings opposite, and a carol service in the grand hall – beautiful!

We enjoyed our stay, fantastic location, lovely grounds to wander about, good eating places. We were in the East Wing and our room wasn't great, it was clean but had leaky rusty windows, maybe that's to be expected for a historic property.
The facilities were fantastic, bedroom ideal (and a very comfy bed). The only thing I wasn't happy about was that the restaurant served me a drink in a very dirty glass, but I felt this was resolved at the time.
I really wanted to like this place since it was so charming, but it fell short of my expectations. Our bathroom smelt like mold. The shower doesn't drain so you have to turn the water off after a few seconds of usage to allow it to drain so that it doesn't overfill. The carpets look filthy. My bathrobe for privacy is tattered. The breakfast was lovely and the grounds were truly beautiful, but I wouldn't stay here again.
Primary use of the accommodation is as an education centre. Don’t let that put you off. It’s different in a good way, lovely helpful staff, comfortable rooms in a setting steeped in British history - no corporate or standard rooms here.
Our shower & wc was in the corridor opposite the bedroom which was fun but it worked. Breakfast was amazing, lots of options, self serve in a 14th century hall. We didn’t eat on site but the ‘White Hart’ had great evening meal options.
The gardens are beautiful and there is even a cinema on site!
We will go again, no question. Expect a different peaceful experience and enjoy as we did.
fantastic Dartington experience with unparalleled cultural mix provided by helpful capable staff in all sectors: reception, shops, room service, bar, kitchen, entertainment, gardens and the whole unrivaled historic campus.
Fantastic location with much going on and exquisite gardens.
Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast excellent.
The Green Table Cafe was a very good restaurant.
The White Hart Pub/restaurant has friendly serving staff but the food is less than mediocre. A great shame as a venue like this could benefit enormously from a good evening restaurant.
A number of missed opportunities with room cleaning, i.e. extremely dusty shelves on bedside units.
Very reasonably priced with gorgeous grounds. I was on the top floor during a heat wave without air cooling, but a fan was provided to try to cool things. I need a stick to get about and there were many steps to negotiate with bags.
