Quaint village period cottage - 10 miles from Oxford

3 private bedrooms with shared use of the rest of the cottage and garden. Please note we have a very discreet live-in host that lives in one of the bedrooms.

The bedrooms are one double room (sleeps 2 in a double bed), and two single rooms (each with a single bed and an air bed for an additional guest).

Take in the beautiful South Oxfordshire countryside from our period village cottage (built 1700). The cottage has a pretty south-facing garden with a stone BBQ.

The village of West Hanney has a local pub, Indian restaurant, local shop & park in easy walking distance.

Oxford is only a 15-minute drive, & Didcot Station is nearby for trains to Central London in 40 minutes.

Disliked: Communication
Was told by Expedia that I had the property to myself but when I arrived I realised I was sharing with 3 other people. Property was supposedly called ‘the cottage’ but turns out this was next door’s place. Parking was basically none existent in the end as the other people had their car(s) on the very small driveway. Only things I can say were good was that the WiFi was a decent speed considering how rural the area was, and the bed was very comfortable.

Gelukkig maar voor 1 nacht

De verhuurder heeft geen instructies gestuurd over het inchecken. Bij aankomst was er ook niemand om ons te ontvangen. Diverse berichten verstuurd en proberen te bellen met de verhuurder, maar geen reactie. Gelukkig was de achterdeur open, zodat we toch nog binnen konden. Geen welkomstbriefjes of instructies of wat dan ook. Na verloop van tijd druppelden er steeds meer mensen binnen en werd ons duidelijk dat we het huisje moesten delen met 3 andere gasten en dat er slechts 2 slaapplaatsen voor ons beschikbaar waren, terwijl we dachten dat we het huisje voor ons alleen hadden. De laatste gast die binnenkwam was een vaste huurder, heel aardige kerel. Hij heeft ons alles nog eens uitgelegd, maar dat was eigenlijk al niet meer nodig. Er hing een vreemde geur om de slaapkamers, een van de andere gasten is hierdoor voortijdig vertrokken. Ik heb uiteindelijk op de bank ‘geslapen’ en de rest van de familie met drieen in 1 bed. Totaal gebroken zijn we ‘s ochtends weer vertrokken. Nog steeds geen bericht van de eigenaar, die ergens in Frankrijk schijnt te wonen. Genoeg punten voor verbetering!
