This property was fabulous. It was within perfect walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants, while still having a quiet part to it. While we do not have children, there were many options for activities for families with children. The breakfast included was nice. The hotel has a very nice gym and pool facility and plenty of parking for guests. They also allowed us to check in early, which was a great help.
We did ask about the pizza bar mentioned on their website and were told to go somewhere in town for takeout. We did find out after that the hotel has a pizza bar within walking distance near the Westport House, so do lookout for that; we were disappointed that we missed that option.
Also, a tip would be to call and check hotel prices BEFORE booking with Expedia. We were upset to know that the hotel was $30/Euros a night cheaper if we booked direct (this hotel was a last minute booking on our trip due to a change in itinerary). Not a fault at the hotel, just Expedia really. Something to look out for!
Overall, this is a great hotel and a beautiful town and when we are back in Ireland, we will definitely be back!
I had booked a week at this hotel at a cost of 1400 pounds for a week when we arrive at hotel for check-in it was first class check-in one of the questions that we were asked was what time we would like breakfast at during are stay we asked for 10.00am but it was quite busy so we agreed 9.30am ever morning when we came down for breakfast we were asked what room number and what time for breakfast the next morning we said 9.30 that was ok for us on the 4 morning for breakfast that was when things changed for us every morning the witaitress would ask us would like tea and toast for 2 which we got on 4 morning we were asked if we like tea and toast my wife asked if she could have a cappuccino and witaitress said that would be extra my wife was very embarrassed so did not take the coffee she then asked if are toast could be well done witaitress said thats the way it comes not a very pleasant morning for us on Thursday morning came down for breakfast at 9.30 and got told of for been late for breakfast because they said are breakfast was for 9.15 which was not the case we were asked what time for breakfast on Friday morning we said 9.30 we were told no 8.15 because no tables at 9.30 we said no so had to take 9.15 i went and told at reception but got no help so not a very good lasted 3 days at the hotel we not very happy
My stay was great, no problems whatsoever, room was clean, comfy bed, staff at reception were lovely! We didn’t eat or drink there so no comment on that.
We were pleasently surprised upon arrival,1st time here at this establishment,&what a revelation it was, From the professional Role of Mary at Reservation/Check in ,to Service in dining room.the stay was splendid, Correct people in the correct role always work for me,Add the Luxurious bedroom to the brilliant revitalising Spa/Leisure Centre,& the Very relaxing Bar, plus Woodland walks within easy reach of now famous Greenway this is a must stop for weary Travellers,or folk due a deserved break.1 could look for faults in every getaway ,but I could find no faults or complaints,Good protocols been adhered to for the Current Covid adds to the relaxation.
Great hotel for a family. Walking distance to both the town and Westport House (top attraction in Westport). Staff were very organized and professional. Ample free parking on site.
Initial impressions don’t lie - smell of dampness pervades - moisture in the inside of the double glazing, chipped Formica furniture, no dining separate facilities -you eat in the bar, -that’s only at check in - I could go on.
Food was excellent in both the restaurant (set menu) and the bar. Layout was good and pleasant and social distancing provided for. All staff encountered were fantastic!
The decor of the hotel is a little dated. Pricing is high in the peak season.
The room i was staying in was booked as a single but there was no soundproofing between the rooms and i was kept up until after 1am because the people next door were up talking and watching TV. They werent loud or roaring but just talking but you ciuld here everything. Very disappointing.
Pros: Staff were very friendly, check-in process smooth and good Covid restrictions were in place in common areas.
Cons: The room has not been fully cleaned (stains on headboard not wiped away, dirt on carpet). It was quite bland for a premier room, we were expecting nicer but that may have been due to limited availability.
Fantastic spot. Comfortable rooms, great setting with lots of wooded outdoor sitting areas and its own entrance to the grounds of gorgeous Westport House. The main hotel restaurant is a very fine affair and I had a truly memorable meal where every effort was made (great wine pairing!) for a very reasonable price. But the real five star experience for me is that I had a very awkward request of staff regarding something I needed help with at the end of my stay, and they went out of their way to accommodate me and not make me feel a burden (thank you Michael and Mary). In a great town where many hotels are old and pokey in the congested town Centre, this was a relaxed joy. I will stay again in a flash.
Overall the stay was fine, there were COVID 19 measures in place and the room was clean. Restaurant service was okay. Just felt it was not worth the price but maybe things would have been different had there not been a need for Covid-19 measures.

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
Great breakfast and friendly staff
Very friendly staff throughout hotel. The stay was during the start of corona outbreak. Social distancing wasn’t handled as well as it should have been. There wasn’t any clear effort to ramp up desanitization. Otherwise it was comfortable. Would have loved extra toiletries, no conditioner provided. Breakfast was great with a full buffet. Wasn’t too keen on the coffee though. The bar is outdated and has quite a stench. Tv in the room very old and wifi didnt work. (It connected with full strength to the router, but no internet connectivity 90% of the time)
I stayed one night recently on business. A very pleasant stay. The first room I was allocated had a door to an adjoining room. Unfortunately there was a good bit of noise coming from the other room. I went back to reception and asked for a change to a quieter room. The reception team were very apologetic and helpful in making the change. The new room was perfect.
The new room had a renovated bathroom with a walk in shower, which was one of the best hotel showers I’ve come across.
