The first room we were assigned at check in had no AC. We had staff come and check the thermostat in the room because it was so warm and they opened a window but there was no breeze so the room was very warm all night. In the morning I shared my concern with the front desk and we were moved to a room with AC. Who knew such a thing existed when we checked in!! The first room had no working telephone and the outlets didn’t work. I assumed it was my adapter but it worked fine in the new room the second night. Location was terrific and we walked everywhere! There were some great restaurants handy.

Good hotel. Reasonable breakfast. Would stay again. Love the beds to be genuine doubles rather than two singles pushed together. Pleasant stay, short bus ride to main sights. Good

Apex Waterloo is a fantastically located hotel as so many things Edinburgh has to offer is within walking distance: Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood, and more. The parking garage is right around the corner and there is a large indoor shopping mall in the same vicinity.
Our room was comfortable enough for three (two adults and one 11-year old), with my daughter sleeping on a pullout couch. The shower was large and the water warm.
The only thing about the hotel we didn't prefer was the dining experience. The staff was incredibly nice and attentive, so no issues there, but we weren't fans of the food itself. It may be how scrambled eggs are prepared in Scotland, but they aren't what we're used to as we cook ours longer. But, I feel food experiences are a bit more personal than other aspects of travel so I'm aware others will have differing opinions.
Overall, I feel this hotel is a great option when staying in Edinburgh and would recommend this to others in the future. My wife and I have already discussed staying there again when we return. Enjoy your stay!

This hotel’s location is perfect! The staff was friendly & helpful. However, in the photos they show the top floor as available for guests. It’s not. It is only for functions, which is kind of crazy since it has one of the best views of the castle around.
