“Would Go Back Again!”
Although this hotel in not in the most "scenic" part of London there are many historical sites in the area if you look for them. The hotel itself was exactly as advertised. It was clean, comfortable and close to the metro. The front desk, cleaners, and bar staff all went out of their way to make us welcome. I would definetly go back.
“Nice hotel - great location”
The City Hotel was modern bright and clean. Didn't eat in restaurant or go to the bar but both looked nice, but a little pricey! The bar & restaurant are not open on Sundays. This hotel still has smoking rooms, which we didn't realise and our room was a bit smelly as we didn't specify when booking.
“Nice hotel in great location for central london”
This hotel is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and efficient. The hotel is in a great location for pubs, resturants and clubs. Easy to access central london by tube (East aldgate station - 50m from hotel) This is my favourite hotel in london. The Brick lane area can be a bit lively at weekends so bring earplugs if your a light sleeper or alternatively ask for a room at the back of the hotel.
“Great hotel for travelers using the Tube”
Overall, I thought this hotel was great. It's quiet at night, the rooms are clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was decent. The best part of the hotel for us was its close proximity (less than a block) from a Tube station. It's just perfect for travelers who want to hop on the train and visit all the touristy sites. We stayed at this hotel for all 4 days while we were in London and would choose to stay there again if we were given the chance.
“Good, friendly place to stay. Avoid the resturant”
The City Hotel was an affordable, clean, comfortable hotel situated very near both tube station and bus stop for easy travel. Found the reception staff to be helpful and friendly although was disappointed in the resturant managers attitude towards his staff. He was 'training' them right next to our table we were sitting at for breakfast which consisted of him swearing at them and treating them like idiots which didn't make for a comfortable dining experience!! He was the only negative point about the City Hotel and would stay there again but skip the breakfast!
“Bargain”
Having read a previous review I was a little nervous however I need not have been. The hotel was clean and well presented, the staff were helpful and courteous and the breakfast was comprehensive and abundant, although we only booked a double room we were greeted with a twin room apartment with 3 single beds in one room and a double (in a massive) other room. Both sleeping rooms had air conditioning. The bathroom and linen were very clean. The only gripe (very minor) was the dreadful TV reception. We didnt try the internet connection (wireless but you had to pay in reception). Conclusion: Recommended.
“I'll head for the City Hotel when I return to London.”
Good hotel with a good staff. Right on Brick Lane, a hot-spot on Friday nights in the Pubs. Good walking; subway for all points just around the corner. Even a KFC and Burger King are close by. I recommend this hotel to the person who doesn't want to pay a fortune for the same service and respect the person can find at the City Hotel.
“Ideal for business sector”
My daughter granddaughter and myself occupied a treble family room and we were very impressed with the room, although basic it was clean and well equipped with tea making facilities and soft white towels. We needed to be near to Bank and this hotel was excellently positioned to catch the metro. Well done expedia for providing us with a great hotel, will use this hotel next time we are in London, great staff.
“Would Return”
The hotel is in very close range to the Aldgate East Station of the the London Underground Tube. That makes it very convenient to travel around town. The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful in assisting its guests with any questions regarding their stay in London. I felt right at home and was very comfortable. There are European style cafes outside the hotel and on the street next to the Tube that have great food at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend The City Hotel for budget minded travelers, you will be very satisfied.
