Central location
A lovely pub right in the centre of Bakewell. Friendly staff although they were very busy. Some confusion on checkin about our tesco vouchers but all sorted.

In the centre of Bakewell
Hotel was clean, comfortable and in the centre of Bakewell. What wasn't so good was being asked to pay again for one of the rooms, when we had paid for both rooms in full in advance.

One Night Stay in Peak district
It was a lovely one night stay. It was very hectic due to social distancing being observed. We were shown to the room and it was lovely. Despite there being a minor problem with the shower not draining quickly enough the room was excellent. There was some confusion about parking, there is none other than public car parks and some of these are used for markets so there's no overnight parking. We had to keep our bikes locked up either downstairs or on the car, we chose on the car and kept it as close as possible

Room was clean and well decorated. And the location was good. Although Bakewell does get extremely busy with traffic.

What a shame
The pub has so much potential. Brilliant location fab outside area if warm enough. Bedroom was cold and dingy. The owners were dreadful dismissive , unhelpful and definitely did not want to be there. However, Reece the waiter saved the day as he was superb!

Nice rooms, shame about the service.
The welcome at check in was frosty and we weren’t made to feel welcome. My wife was left shivering cold and soaking wet in the middle of the bar whilst the hotel tried to work out if the room was prepaid or not. The customer should have been the priority here! The room was excellent, very spacious, clean and modern. We didn’t eat at the hotel because there wasn’t space available. There was a younger female member of staff who was excellent and really cared.

Good little Inn
Pleasant place to stay in Bakewell. Room was lovely, super decor. Staff were pleasant and we had dinner there as well which was very good. I found the bed a little hard on one side, and the shower was electric and not particularly high pressure, but overall it was still a decent place to spend a night.

Lovely place to stay in Bakewell. Only downside is there was no free parking due to tables being moved into guest‘a parking lot because of COVID. We didn’t mind paying for parking, however as we were sitting outside; friends or regulars of the pub came and the staff moved their cars around so they could park for free. The pub could have at least covered the parking fee for overnight (£1) or shuffled cars for us as well as friends/regulars. Again it was lovely quiet place to stay and would stay here again if we travel north to this area again.

One night stay as part of a few days away. The location is excellent, right in the centre of Bakewell. We had dinner and breakfast which we found of very good quality and value. The rooms are in a separate building just a few steps away from the main pub. They are well decorated and modern. There is also a small car park available. Would definitely stay again.

Walking break
We stayed for three nights so we could do some waling in the area. The room and ensuite were really nice , just think the bed could have been bigger than a double to make it even better. The food was very good although rather expensive but there were large portions so on one occasion my husband and I shared! The parking was an issue as someone parked behind us and although we put a note on the cars to inform him, we had to get the management to get him to move it when we wanted to leave. The outside area is lovely. Staff very helpful.

Room was ok, the bed was in need of a new mattress. The hallway leading in to the room smelled terrible, like a deep fryer. Overall looking tired.

Response from Anonymous from one to another. on 19 Sept 2019
Unfortunately when you remain anonymous with no reference to the room you stayed in we have no idea who you are and which room you stayed in, but I can assure you all the rooms have a new mattress, maybe you are not used to new mattresses, and with regard to the smell, I refute your remark as nothing smells terrible - especially the smell of freshly cooked food which on this occasion may have drifted to the corridor from possibly people eating outside, but as I say I don’t know as you remain anonymous! The Peacock is 200 years old and certainly doesn’t look tired, in fact many guests love the traditional and old look of a 1820 built old coach house from back in the day and all the rooms are maintained to a high standard in cleanliness and quality up to date and modern en-suite bathrooms. Maybe you don’t embrace traditional wooden beams and the like, but the rooms in our opinion are most definitely not tired and a 6 out of 10 rating is what it is I guess so we take that as read and thank you for your review!

The location was absolutely perfect, the parking is a real issues though which I guess is due to the central location...but only 5 spaces of which, some are taken by staff. The bedroom we had was directly above the kitchen and it was pretty noisy late night.

Five spaces Anoymous - the last time I looked there were 11 cars in our car park, and you always have the option of purchasing a Derbyshire Dales Rover pass for £10 which is available for 3 consecutive days and allows you to park in Bakewell (With no time limits) and the surrounding villages - all details are behind the bar! I think that is fantastic value for money such are parking charges these days!!! The noise from next door is out of our control I’m afraid, as our kitchen closes at 9pm

Unexpected stay
We stayed at the Peacock on our way from Edinburgh to Buckinghamshire - a spur of the moment decision. The staff at the Peacock were all very pleasant. The room was small, but had everything you needed and was clean. The access corridor was a bit of a mess. We had a curry in the bar, which was excellent, but a bit on the large side.

Thanks for the positive comments - food is always excellent, not sure what you mean about corridor being a bit of a mess, maybe the cleaners were out doing their job, but regardless glad you enjoyed your stay. Room 7 is small - our cheapest room, but has a beautiful en-suite,sky tv with sports and movies, air conditioned, 42 inch flat screen tv, linen to melt in too, tea and coffee in abundance, and of course clean so all in all everything you would need.
