Warm & welcoming

We had an amazing time. Nancy & Bill were very pleasant hosts and Nancy is a wonderful cook. We stayed upstairs in a spacious room with a view of the lake, a balcony with table & chairs, a REAL wood burning fireplace in the suite which was a huge plus for me because I've long wanted to stay somewhere with just such a fireplace. Our bed was huge, we have a king at home but this one seemed larger. The room also had a whirlpool tub. Conversation was great around the breakfast table in the morning and Nancy & Bill joined us all. The only down, was both my husband & I left the table hungry! Great food, just not enough. And we are not big eaters.

Lovely Alternative to Vacation Cabin Rentals

The Inn at Fawnskin is located on the quiet North Shore of Big Bear Lake, near hiking, biking and beaches, and just a short drive from the busy tourist area. Nancy, the innkeeper, and her staff were friendly and accommodating. My only quibbles are minor--I stayed in the Woodland room, and luckily I was traveling solo because there really isn't space for 2 in that room. Spring for a suite when you make your reservations. Also, there was some noise from the adjoining room, despite the fact that this beautiful log home is solidly built. I enjoyed escaping the desert for the cool mountain air. I am planning another trip to the area in the fall and I am considering staying at the Inn again. It is a great alternative to the worn out motels and vacation cabin rentals that abound in Big Bear.

Amazing location & accommodations

The Inn at Fawnskin is a gorgeous log cabin style bed & breakfast. The owners and staff are exceptionally friendly, the inn and rooms are clean, spacious & comfortable. The breakfast is delicious & everyone has an enjoyable morning conversation. We will definitely return.

Terrible. No kids allowed!

We booked a King suite and were not allowed to check in because we had our kids with us. We brought two sleeping bags to have kids sleep on the floor. The owner would not let us check in and said it’s “not a camp ground” and against county regulations to let kids sleep on the floor. So after a day’s skiing and a packed holiday weekend at Big Bear we drove our kids down to Redlands to a hotel an hour away. We could not get another room nearby and had to drive off the mountain in the dark.

Beyond words! Gorgeous rustic cozy vibes

This place, Nancy and Bill who run it, are ridiculously awesome. I’ve had the privilege of staying all around the world in 5 star hotels (it’s not a hotel) but the place is incredible! It’s got such a great vibe, the breakfast in the morning, the dog Beau, we loved loved loved it! If you want a rustic, mountain themed vibe with incredible energy and cozy comfort, look no further.

Amazingly Comfortable B&B

We enjoyed every moment of our stay here. Nancy and Bill (and Beau of course) were such great hosts. We were in town for the Spartan Races and didn't get to relax on the beautiful grounds or in our room much but we will be back for sure. Plus the breakfast was outstanding. Thank you for such a great weekend away - see you again soon!!

The inn is situated beautifully across from the lake, but we were disappointed in our stay for several reasons. We couldn't find any luggage racks and ended up with suitcases in the floor. The sofa needs to be replaced - we used all the pillows as seat cushions. The rooms were dark but you couldn't read anything with the 40-watt bulbs. The bed was awful; the mattress was like a marshmallow and the pillows were like sponges. There was no service for towels and we ran out of Kleenex. The robes smelled strongly of cologne and perfume. Overall, the stay was a major disappointment. I expected a lot more value for the price of the room.

Overnight

My husband and I stayed overnight before dropping him off to join our son who is hiking the PCT. My husband could only take off for a few days from work so they planned to meet in Big Bear and hike together for a week. We had a lovely evening at the Inn after dinner with our son. It was off-season on a Sunday and we were the only guests. It felt like a very private lodge In the morning we had a lovely breakfast. The hosts were very accommodating with their food preparations. They made me a lovely vegan breakfast. My husband is not vegan and they took care of him too. We were only two guests but they made two different breakfasts for us.

Lovely host & lovely classic Big Bear location,

As previous residents in Big Bear we wanted to spend a weekend on the quiet side, Fawnskin. Had a lovely relaxing weekend, wonderful breakfasts and we loved Beau(regard) their great GoldenDoodle.

Das war ein Reinfall!

Wir hatten ein Doppelzimmer gebucht. Sofort nach Ankunft teilte mir die Vermieterin mit, dass das Bett für zwei Personen nicht ausreiche. Für einen Aufpreis könnten wir ein echtes Doppelbett haben. In der Tat war in dem von uns gebuchten Zimmer leider nur ein Queen-Size Bett. Aus Prinzip haben wir die Aufpreisofferte abgelehnt. In der Nacht haben wir dann aber leider auch kein Auge zumachen können. Zudem stand im Zimmer ein Gasofen, der auch bei den hochsommerlichen Temperaturen nicht abschaltbar war (Schalter defekt). Der Deckenventilator funktionierte nicht. Wir wiesen die Vermieterin auf beide Mängel hin, diese verwies wieder auf ein besseres Zimmer gegen Aufpreis. Frühstück wurde uns um 9h angeboten. Das war für uns zu spät, da wir früh los wollten. Alles in allem hätten wir in Big Bear City lieber eines der vielen Motels für einen deutlich günstigeren Preis buchen sollen. Riesenenttäuschung!

Quick getaway

We planed a quick 3 day getaway and had a great time! Everyone at the Inn was wonderful. Breakfast was amazing (awesome coffee too!) I would recommend this place if your looking for a relaxing time.

Great stay. The room has on the small side, maybe 10'x10'. The service and cooking by Bill and Nancy are over the top. Amazing home cooked breakfast.

Relaxing getaway

Nancy and Bill are very gracious hosts! We couldn't have been happier with our stay. Nancy is a great cook and Bill gave us some excellent advice about local off road trails.

A great B&B in Big Bear Lake

We arrived late at night and had brought our own kayak. They had left instructions for us to get to our room and as soon as we dropped our luggage into the room, we stopped by their 24/7 self-serve tea bar where they keep a variety of tea flavors and home made cookies. The next morning we were greeted by Bill and Nancy. They own and manage this B&B and are two of the nicest people we have ever met. Nancy is a jazz singer and a gourmet cook and Bill manages all other aspects of the place. We had some of the loveliest breakfasts, including home made sausage, scones with lavender that was so moist and tasty, ... And they have bird feeders outside of the dining room area and it is great to have breakfast while doing some bird watching, from hummingbirds to blue jays. The place is decorated very nicely and very clean. you can tell from the moment that u walk in that they take great pride in what they do.

Best place to relax on the North Shore

Wonderful weekend get away. Such a beautiful place. Warm and welcoming with lots of lovely special touches. Nancy and Bill are great hosts. I am telling everyone about it!

Nancy & Bill were fantastic hosts!

We only stayed one night since it was an inpromtu trip but the overall feeling of the stay was so relaxing. Bill and Nancy are both such interesting and kind people the company alone was worth it. Even though this was their home in a sense, the feeling of privacy was great as they only came around when home for dinner and obviously breakfast that morning. Room was clean as a whistle. Overall, I would definitely stay again at the bed and breakfast. Nancy made us a fantastic breakfast and Bill made this orange juice that was definitely the best OJ I have ever had. Ever. The room was a little small(woodard room?), we didnt stay in the lake view suite which seemed much more roomy with a great view of the lake (wish we would have!) but we didn't spend much time in the room excluding bed time. The downstairs area was great to sit and drink some wine to cap off a great night that we had. The decorating gave it a real cabin feel. Also, they have a nice backyard to just sit and enjoy your company and see all the animals cruising around. Also, you must go sit on the porch and drink some coffee in the morning and check out the lake. Such a relief from the busy city life. Great stay, great weekend.
