Boston Common showing a city, a statue or sculpture and a park

Boston has animportant place in American history; considered by many to be the Birthplace ofAmerican Liberty, it played a major role of during the American Revolution. Bostonnow remains influential on the east coast, especially since the city isinseparable from science and education, and has the reputation of being one ofthe most affluent and most progressive cities in the United States.

The Bostoners are proud of their revolutionary pastand the role of Boston played in the liberation ofthe country from British power. It’s here that important events, such as the BostonTea Party and the Boston Massacre took place, spit is not surprising that history still plays an important role here.

You can follow this history through the FreedomTrail, a four kilometre long route from BostonCommon to Charlestown. This line of red bricks passes sixteen places that wereimportant to the American Revolution. The route passes attractions like thePaul Revere House and the Old South Meeting House, before ending at the USSConstitution, the oldest seaworthy warship in the world.

Boston is famousworldwide as the home of Harvard University. Few have the opportunity to studyat the prestigious university, but non-students can visit these magnificentbuildings. It’s well worth a visit, not least for the public to visit placeslike the Harvard Museum of Natural History.

As expected in a city with a reputation forintellectual success, there are many museums and cultural activities to enjoy. You will find behemoths like the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Science, alongside attractions that are fun for the whole family, such as the BostonChildren's Museum, the New England Aquarium and the Franklin Park Zoo.

The city of Boston isalso known for the beautiful theatres and arts institutions. In the beautifullydecorated Cutler Majestic Theatre, Boston Opera House and Orpheum Theatre, youcan enjoy acclaimed groups, such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra and theBoston Ballet. What better was way to relax and experience the culture andhistory of one of the most impressive cities in the United States?

Boston has plenty for everyone, particularly history buffs. A great city for walking, but also has excellent tube links, should you wish to go further afield. Plenty of art galleries and museums, but shopping can be expensive, as can eating out.

I would recommend a weekly T pass if you are there for a week. The hotel is easily accessible via the T if you have limited luggage. The T is a great way to get around without having to pay costly fees to cabs.
