Are You Ready To Unplug? This cozy custom-built cabin at Buffalo Hump Lake is waiting for you.
The cabin is nestled on the southwest shore of privately owned Hump Lake, a remote alpine lake at elevation 7,900' situated at the base of Buffalo Hump Mountain in Central Idaho. She was built in 2009. The only other cabin on the lake is also owned by us so odds are VERY good you will be the only people on the lake.
The lake property was originally several gold claims patented around the turn of the century. It is now completely surrounded by National Forest and Wilderness lands. Because it was patented ground, it would have literally taken an act of Congress to release it to the Government. So it remained private property. Lucky you!
The cabin is completely off-grid with solar power, propane appliances, and a backup generator. It has one bedroom with a queen bed, along with a loft with two twin beds. Sleeps four comfortably. All linens, bedding, and fluffy towels are provided.
The kitchen includes all utensils, dinnerware, pots & pans, stove top coffee pot, and seasonings. It seats 7 comfortably with a handmade 4-chair table along with 3 barstools at the kitchen counter.
The living area is cozy and comfortable with a loveseat, recliner, extra blankets, flatscreen tv with dvd player and assortment of movies, books, cards and board games, and sketch pad and pencils.
The bathroom is a DREAM, considering where you are, and includes a full shower/tub combo and a glorious flushing toilet. The on-demand water heater allows for limitless hot showers. All water to the cabin is provided by a crystal-clear, natural artesian spring. And it's heavenly to drink.
The full wrap-around deck sports a gas bbq and outdoor seating. There's a fire pit off the deck near the lake.
The cabin comes equipped with nearly everything you may need or want, including kayaks, a rowboat, fishing poles and gear, firewood, lanterns, mosquito spray, sunscreen, first aid kit etc.
At the turn of the century, the Buffalo Hump area was once home to a mini gold rush here in Idaho. It's reported there were 10,000 people here, all hoping to strike it rich with the mountain's treasure of gold hidden in her milky white quartz veins. Not much remains today but if you look close and take the time, you can still find remnants of its heyday.
Every single direction you look is picture postcard perfect. The sunsets are 360* of glowing hillsides and mountains. The lake is so clear the moon gives a perfect reflection. And there are surely more stars up here.
Whether you are an Eco Tourist or a Big Game Hunter - This is your dream vacation. There are miles of trails and many lakes to hike to and enjoy.
The ONLY downside to this amazing vacation property is the road up the mountain. It is not for the faint of heart or 2-wheel drive vehicles. We highly recommend a 4-wheeler or side-by-side, a 4-wheel drive vehicle with an experienced driver, or a helicopter ride up.
We DO offer rides up the mountain for an additional fee.
