The Old School House, Moymore, Lahinch, Co Clare

Adults-only cottage in Doolin

Beautifully converted school house surrounded by peaceful countryside with distant sea views & just a 10-15 minute drive from the Cliffs of Moher.

Step into a piece of history as we offer you the warmest of welcomes into one of the old schools of Ireland that so many of our ancestors went to.
Built in 1882, Moymore School has been carefully renovated in keeping with the traditional design of the old school, to provide you with all the warmth and modern comforts of a home away from home.

Situated away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding villages of Lahinch, Liscannor, Doolin and the vibrant town of Ennistymon, the location of the Old School is a wonderful base for seeing all the wonders that this stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way has to offer, including the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. It is therefore particularly attractive to walkers and hikers. However the area is best serviced for those with their own transport, with all attractions and local amenities within a 10-15min drive away:-

8.4km/13mins drive to the world famous CLIFFS OF MOHER.
4.5km/6mins drive to LAHINCH Golf Courses & beach and village with pubs, restaurants and beautiful shops.
5km/6mins drive to LISCANNOR with harbour, village pubs and restaurants.
6.5km/11mins drive to DOOLIN with restaurants and pubs famous for their traditional music sessions.
8km/14mins drive to DOOLIN PIER for the Aran Islands boats.
6.7km/9mins drive to ENNISTYMON town with it’s colourful traditional shop fronts, banks, supermarkets (including Aldi), pubs and restaurants.

The cottage and it’s gardens are entirely at your disposal and private to you during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you....

Spectacular ending to a wonderful trip!
The Old School House was the perfect ending to our 3 week trip touring Ireland! Grainne was probably the most gracious host we have ever had at a rental house.....she was very accommodating and easy to communicate with and made everything so special. The house was provisioned with food and drink and even warm homemade scones! Thank you Grainne, for a special stay in the beautiful countryside of Ireland. We'd come back in a minute!

Unforgettable stay, absolutely perfect
The old schoolhouse is one of those magical places you visit and never forget. The restoration was clearly a labor of love, with nods everywhere to the history. I’ve never stayed in a vacation rental with such attention to comfort. Gráinne is a lovely person, warm and welcoming. She dropped off scones warm from the oven and gave us great suggestions for what to do locally. We loved reading the books about Ireland and local history—even a book about the old schoolhouses of Ireland! The house is stocked with toiletries and everything you would need to cook, along with some lovely treats in the fridge and fresh bread and eggs for breakfast. What photos can’t capture is the feeling of the space. Walking in to the high ceilings and wall of windows looking out on a beautiful lawn a short distance from the water. Watching the stars at night, sleeping in the wonderfully comfortable beds. The showers are pure luxury. A short drive to Doolin and the pubs and coastline, a great base for taking ferries to see the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Isles. The skies are spectacular stretching out all around. The setting is beautiful to walk or drive in. This was a family trip for us to spend time together before our daughter leaves for college, and the time we spend in the Old Schoolhouse was the absolute highlight of our time in Ireland. Do not hesitate to book this property if you are lucky enough to find it free.

Fantastic Place
I can not say enough about how beautiful and welcoming this place is. The place was well stocked with scones and breakfast foods. Sitting on the stone fence and enjoying a glass of wine while viewing the county side was a pleasure. The fireplace was all set up for having a glass of whiskey for a night cap. This place is a piece of heaven nestled in the beautiful Irish country side. Very convenient to the Cliffs of Moher and the Barren. I will be back but will stay here much longer that 2 days.
