"This was a difficult place to review because the good things were good. But the experience was so overshadowed by the bad that I cannot recommend it. The good: the staff was friendly. The room and bathroom were updated well. The bed was comfortable. The bad: the pillows were very hard and flat, the pullout bed was poor quality, you can tell the updates painted over badly water damaged walls, the lift was broken (all rooms are more than 2 flights up). Our negative experience was capped by the following: The hotel reached out several times over the week to make sure they had all our info, credit card etc. Wheen we checked in at 930, the door by the sign for the hotel is propped open and music is blasting out of it. People at the door stated "this is a private party, you'll have to go someplace else to check in". So we walk along back and find an off duty employee who was outside smoking and they were nice enough to take us to the front desk through the employee access. They pulled us into the office to check us in because the music was so loud they couldn't hear anything and then gave us "free ear plugs" because they knew the music was going to be loud but "should be done by 1230a". Earplugs only work for sleep if you don't have to get up to an alarm the next morning. You could hear the words of the music, let alone the bass in the room. It was impressively bad. It was not right to rent out the space for an event and rent out rooms to others. It was unethical."

"Lovely hotel, great location, room really nicely equipped and decorated. Easy check in/out process with staff on hand to assist if required. Small niggles were a loose toilet seat and pixelated tv channels but we were only there one night so didn’t impact our stay much, notified staff on check-out. Will likely stay again."

"The service was mediocre at best, then NO hot water in morning, when we called first time said their was no issue, no one else had a problem, told to run the water until it got hot, 10 minutes later called again different person acknowledged the hotel did not have hot water, manger was going to reset the hot water tank, called back 15 minutes later, told they did not have a solution, did not offer any help."

"The Kelvin is a clean, quiet, well-lit space that offers ample opportunities to walk or use public transport downtown easily. Amenities (including free parking on site) are as described. Read all binders, notes, and other correspondence from the host thoroughly so that you can leave the apartment as you found it. These documents will acquaint you with security and other on-site and remote features that are unique to this property. Learn all you can in the first hours so that you can appreciate the many virtues of this place. Jacqui is quite responsive to questions."

"Hotel is very run down and in urgent need of an upgrade. Very disappointed overall, particularly as have stayed at other Leonardo hotels and they were great (hence why we booked this one). All staff were very friendly and helpful and it’s a shame that they have to work in an environment that is so run down. Upon complaining about general state of facilities we did receive a 50% refund, so big thanks to the manager for his understanding. The Leonardo chain should be ashamed that one of its hotels is in such a bad state."
