Hotel Carvoeiro Plaza

"The first thing to be said about this hotel is its location - excellent. Right in the centre of Carvoeiro near the beach and all the restaurants. We arrived about 9pm and were greeted by a slightly grumpy receptionist - no smiles, just matter-of-fact. Not the best start. We saw him later helping at breakfast and we concluded he was just naturally not very happy looking. All the other staff were charming and friendly. Room was spacious, small Juliette balcony overlooking a sidestreet. Comfy bed, well cleaned, nice little fridge for keeping milk if you like a cup of tea first thing. Or a cold beer! Good wifi connection. Bathroom a bit dated. Little chip in the basin and a bit of a struggle to get into the bath round a fixed glass screen. A good shower in the bath. Perfectly ok really. Towels changed daily if you wanted. Breakfast was a pleasure to look forward to. Excellent buffet choice of virtually everything you could want, even a glass of Prosecco if that's your preferred way to start the day. Tables were set out in a courtyard under the blue sky. Delightful setting. Nice little swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds. Towels available for a returnable deposit of 10 euros. The hotel is nicely decorated with many typical blue tile pictures found in Portugal. There is a Sky Bar on the top of the hotel, outside. It is not a hotel establishment but accessed via the hotel lift. This is lovely - do go and enjoy a drink looking over the bay of Carvoeiro."

"Very good hotel , decent location 10 minutes walk to town centre/beach . Excellent pool and poolside bar , food and drink good and great value . Breakfast was pretty decent plenty choice and always refreshed promptly."

"Stayed here for 5 nights start of August. My first impression was very friendly and informative - he joked booking for 2 adults and 15 kids - had visions I'd left 15 kids at the airport lol! Room very clean. Maid service daily and would find your pjs folded under your pillow. Gardens and swimming pool were very well maintained and clean. Hotel was fully booked but zero sunbed wars!! Could come down at any time and sun beds always available. Very peaceful and quiet around the pool. If you want blasting music and entertainment the hotel probably wouldn't be for you. Selection of breakfast very good - the only fault I would have is the hot food wasn't overly hot. Breakfast variety was changed daily. All the staff were very professional and friendly. There is a steep hill to climb on way back to hotel but the walk down and up was perfectly manageable. Walk was under 15 minutes to the beach. Got an uber back during the days heat which was under 5 euros. The walk took you through residential area - very safe and nice to see typical Portuguese homes. I would definitely recommend this hotel and if going back to the area would stay again. They are accommodating with check out time - we had our room for an extra couple of hours at no charge. Well done to all the team at the hotel you all wotk hard with a smile on your face!"
