Five star location, service, food and sleep!
First time in Castlebar and found this hotel to be a great location to stay in before my meeting next day. Whilst i arrived after 7pm and the restaurant kitchen closed at 7pm, I rang the reception and they offered me the choice to pre order a dinner - went for Roast Beef. On arrival check-in was very swift, my room was warm and comfortable and dinner when served was delicious. Quiet room with warm shower and great bed - so superb sleep enjoyed. Breakfast was delicious with nice choices on menu. Staff very courteous throughout stay - nothing too much. Thanks all!

Staff were unfriendly and unwelcoming. Not much I liked; room wasn’t very clean when I checked in; dirty used eating utensils on the table.

Staff friendly and helpful. Had dinner here and food nice but service was all over the place. But in fairness they didn't charge us for my dessert due to the service. The waitress was rushed off her feet. Also there were cobwebs in restaurant and dead spider on wall hehind me. Found hotel cold. When we went down to breakfast we kept our coats on. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Overall our stay was okay.

Wouldn’t stay again
Bathroom window had an awful draft so bathroom was freezing. When I was showering the drain was clogged and I ended up in a pool of water so I had to take the drain out and use a spoon to unclog it. Also by buffet breakfast I assumed everything would be buffet which it is not, only cereal and fruit is buffet, full Irish has to be ordered.

Great staff but hotel a little basic.
The staff are really professional and go beyond the call of duty. However, the hotel is a little basic. The rooms were a little small and didn't have great views. One of our rooms was quite hard to ventilate and the air was quite stuffy. The wifi was intermittent, and got better the closer you moved to reception. But obviously it's much more convenient to be able to use the wifi in your room rather than have to go out to the reception area.

We are a town centre family hotel of long standing, and our rooms some of which are on the small side, do not afford us a great view, but otherwise are comfortable and well appointed. Ventilation is never an issue, but we sure do have high humidity at the moment. Pat Jennings MD

Good hotel
This is an unusual hotel in the same building as a theatre. In fact the box office is next to reception. We did have trouble finding the entrance and parking it is opposite the hospital. Check-in was good. Note there is no lift but the rooms are only on first floor so not too many stairs to climb. Our room and indeed the entire hotel has been newly renovated so very clean. A large room but no view overlooking a hard wall. Bed was a bit hard for my taste but slept alright. Wi-Fi was not good very weak signal. Dinner was average but breakfast very good. Would stay again .

He king size beds are uncomfortable as it's like two singles put together and there was a lump in the middle rooms over look mainly walls or a hospital and alot of stairs

Lovely room with a free standing bath in bedroom!
All good. Room was good and big. Wifi was poor and not very many tv channels. I didn't ask about wifi, so maybe they could have fixed it. Other than that the stay was excellent and really good value
