"If you want to be close to the water and beach, hear the waves, enjoy the sunset, this is place to stay on North Captiva! No other place is closer, or has a better view. Big on the Beach is it! Thanks to Bob and Wendy the place was ready for occupancy. They picked us up at the docks, carted our luggage to the house, and gave us a comprehensive orientation of all this spectacular house has to offer. When our week was up, Bob and Wendy were again there to help. Thank you! The house was immaculate and well suited for super large groups like our own. It offered plenty of beds and convenient bathrooms for all of us. And the kitchen is well equipped for fixing large meals or casual snacks for large groups. Much thanks to Bob and Wendy for making this a pleasant family vacation, and to Stephanie (the owner) for sharing her wonderful house and spectacular location with us. We love Big on the Beach!"

"The house is beautiful, and the location and view is great! However, we had a list of issues. NO hot water until our last day (so - cold showers), a broken chair, the pocket door to the bath was stuck in the wall so we could not close the door where the shower is, no vanity lights in that bath - just wires showing, a broken screen laying against the house and 2 piles of animal feces on the balcony that the host said they'd clean up (we ended up doing it ourselves on our last day), the lights in the patio/entertainment area did not work, the water dispenser in the fridge did not work or the ice maker and we could not use the tap water as the reverse osmosis system was in-op making the water super salty and unusable for drinking or coffee. We contacted property management about the chair and hot water on the first day, then as the other issues arose. We also contacted the host. The hot water was the only issue resolved - on the afternoon of our last day. I asked our host for some reimbursement who forwarded my message to the prop mngt company. We requested 750 of the 2800 we had paid. Laurie at Tortuga (who was very responsive during all of this) sent our request to the owner and he never responded to either of us. I know problems arise and can be harder to address on the island. However, the silence from the host in the end - to not even address our request, is very disappointing. I feel like how a problem is addressed can speak volumes on how you do business. "

The property manager is fantastic and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and to help with all our needs from finding a place to dock our boat to an extra golf cart and so much more. "We are already planning a return trip. To be steps from the actual beach was such a gift. Down the way where there is public beach access, many vacationers paid charter boats to take them to our island. However, we could simply walk the beaches at our leisure on our own schedule. No need to hire and schedule an outing. We also didn't need to hire a fishing guide as many others do. We knew enough about fishing to acquire licenses and bring our own equipment and caught fish right off our shore and dock because it was a prime spot. The highlight was catching a shark! Our hosts were very, very good and made us feel comfortable. They communicated pertinent information and were available if ever needed. Our family enjoyed beach combing. We found conch, starfish, sea urchin, jelly fish, and ALL SORTS of shells. (We brought home an entire tote of shells!) There is even a shipwreck to check out. Our older kids enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding and all sorts of beach games like cornhole and volleyball. The beach was an enjoyable place to sit in the sun or under the shade of umbrellas. This vrbo home was our vacation and it was truly worth every penny."

"Beautiful house. Loved the location. I didn’t see in description had a second fridge or we would have ordered more food 1st time. We had small kids and bunk beds on the bottom floor was not ideal to leave them so parents had to sleep with them. Really no complaints. If it had a 4th bedroom with a queen I would definitely rent again"
