Delightful Miners Cabin located within Willuna Sanctuary

Welcome to Willuna Sanctuary.. Here is your chance to experience a unique farm stay within the grounds of our 62 acre park like animal sanctuary..

Inspired by the Gold mining era is your very own Miners themed cabin. Inside is a spacious living / meals area with basic kitchen facilities, including cooktop/mini oven/microwave etc. Bdrm 1 consists of double bed and second bdrm has double bunk on bottom and single on top. Shower and toilet in bathroom..Bedding and shower towels provided.

Once you step outside your cabin doors you are met with an oasis of gardens, free roaming peacocks, 100 year old European trees, multiple spring fed large dams to enjoy whilst walking through the sanctuary meeting and experiencing up close and personal encounters with many native and farm animals alike. The sound of wildlife and many different birds transports you into another world..

You will have free reign to explore our 62 acre farm and bush animal sanctuary. Take a private farm tour and get up close and personal feeding kangaroos, emus, Canadian Elks or even a Pony ride. So much to explore and do incl. enjoying sunrises on the famous Mount Pilot summit, cool off in the Pool or enjoy an indoor fire and toasted Marshmallows inside the farm barn in cooler months.

Beechworth is just 13kms up the road and a perfect tourist destination so rich in history and things to do..enjoy evenings in the farm barn with more cooking facilities and indoor fire pit.. do as much as you want or as little as you want!! Come and enjoy our big little slice of paradise!

Willuna Sanctuary

So lovely to stay at this gorgeous animal sanctuary and to hear the stories too. Beautiful little cottage with peace and quiet and a sky full of stars. Very welcoming and helpful hosts too.

Incredible property and we had an amazing few days. Great spot for families and our hosts couldn’t have been any more accommodating. Feeding the animals was an experience our children have been talking about ever since. Picturesque and we will be back!

We'll be back!

An amazing place to stay with amazing hosts. We couldn't recommend Wiluna Sanctuary more to those wanting to relax, explore the region and pat beautiful animals. Our kids were in heaven! The cottage had everything you could need and we loved the freedom we had to explore the property and connect with the animals. It was a short dirve to everything and the pool was perfect for cooling off in the afternoon. We'll be back for sure.

Wonderful! Our host Theresa was just lovely and spent ages doing feed round of all the animals and it was magical. The cottage was beautifully clean and just ideal for our needs and our collie dog was made so welcome. Highly recommend!

The cottage was cosy and functional. Loved that we had Netflix and great wifi. Beautiful relaxing scenary and location. The kids loved the tour with the animals with Theresa and the interaction with the animals. Location is well placed to explore the region lots of quaint towns and nature adventures to do. Theresa was a generous host with well equipped clean accommodation and lovely to chat to about the sanctuary and the animals. Highly recommend

A home within an “almost zoo!”

At the end of a 2km dirt road you’ll find this expansive property with modest (extremely comfortable) properties (miners cabins.) Our property had 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, very compact, comfortable and had everything we needed. The beds were super comfy, the bathroom was quite small, but our hosts had provided all the special touches. The highlight was what the sanctuary was all about…. they are an active rescue sanctuary for a wide range of animals. Thomas the Turkey escorted us around “his” property like a regal soldier. Goats, peacocks, lambs, spectacular ostriches, Shetland ponies, deers, ducks, pigeons, pigs… the list goes on! We could’ve spent weeks appreciating the love this sanctuary gives these animals! The only downside for us was that we brought our 2 dogs that are not really socialised, and definitely not familiar with wild animals. Don’t get me wrong, our hosts were most welcoming and encouraged us to take our dogs (on lead) around the farm… but we didn’t want to terrorise the poor animals! So the problem was more with us than the lovely place! Also, the cottage didn’t have a secure yard… we should’ve read that first… again, our mistake, not the hosts! But our dogs were welcome inside the house, and cuddled up with us in the evening We loved our stay and highly recommend it!

Perfect!

Clean and comfortable cabin perfect for a night or two away from the city. We were enroute from Canberra to Melbourne and location was so pretty and the pool was much appreciated by my son. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!

Theresa was the best host and we had an amazing stay with our two children aged 9 & 11. The animal sanctuary was better than we could have imagined and roasting marshmallows in the barn at night was an added bonus!

Wonderful farm stay

The location was so peaceful and relaxing. The sanctuary was great for the kids, Theresa was so patient with them and genuinely showed interest in them as she showed us around the property. It was a great location and we enjoyed it very much.

Farm stay

A lovely family friendly farm stay experience. Our host wad wonderful! She took us around to feed her animals multiple times, explaining everything and letting us and the kids experience her wildlife sanctuary. We really appreciated her efforts. The kids had the best time! The cabin itself was clean, well presented, comfortable and had what we needed for our 2 night stay. Thank you so much! We will be keeping up to date on your animals on social media and will look forward to coming back.

Wonderful farm experience

Our girls loved going around with Theresa preparing the food and going into the enclosures to hand feed the animals.They also had a pony ride and held the guinea pigs.Theresamade us very welcome. She has a gift with children and animals.You won’t get a better farm experience.

Amazing experience in exceptional surrounds

Wow!! What can I say except that Willuna Sanctuary was the ultimate family escape that we all needed!! Right from the get go Theresa and her family welcomed us with open arms and was so friendly and inviting without being obtrusive at any point! The little cabins were very quaint and had everything we needed for comfort and the surrounds were just magnificent with so much to explore. There are animals galore that you can really get up close and personal with and plenty of space for the kids to roam around. So many added bonuses as well which was a really lovely surprise such as a pony ride for the kids, cuddles with a Guinea Pig and a tractor ride around the farm to feed the animals!! There was even a quad bike for the big kids (ie adults) to enjoy!! This is one winter break we will never forget and would love to return to one day!!

Willuna Delight

We had an awesome weekend at Willuna Sanctuary. The cabin was clean, cozy, and catered to our needs. Our host Theresa took us around in the back of a Can-Am vehicle for a farm tour and to feed the animals. Theresa was very informative about the animals and property. The farm barn was the highlight with it's central open fire, barbecue, tables, lighting, fridge, pantry, and a small area to hook up some music. The barn is communal and is a great place to meet people from the neighbouring cabin and the owners to enjoy a night after daytime activities around the area. The property is a central point for outdoor activities around Beechworth, Bright, Chiltern, Myrtleford, and Mt. Buffalo. We highly recommend a visit to Eurobin Falls and the summit of Mt. Pilot to view a stunning sunset. Our 2 small dogs were with us and utilized the kennels provided while we were out exploring the National Park (no dogs allowed in National Park) and they had a ball playing with the other dogs on the property. Theresa and Matti have done an amazing job to maintain the property and animals. They are very welcoming and we will certainly be going back there again in the near future.
