"This is a bare bones hotel. Front desk is only staffed on a part time basis. If you need anything ask the cleaning staff. No breakfast, coffee, or vending machines. Nicely remodeled though."

"We were only in the area for one day, so we chose this hotel purely for convenience and somewhere to rest. Unfortunately, the experience was terrible from the moment we arrived. When we got there, the front door was locked, which was already unusual. I checked the Hotels.com app to see if I had missed any instructions, but there was nothing helpful. I repeatedly called the contact number listed and got no response. Eventually, I received a message from the hotel via the app with a door code and some vague instructions. Inside, there was no receptionist just a very basic self check-in machine. After entering my details, I was unexpectedly asked to pay an additional €60 on top of what I had already paid. This was never mentioned beforehand. I tried calling every number provided, but again, no one answered. It got to a point where we did not even check in, and had to leave the area which wasted both out money and time. I then received an email, to ask us to review our check in process, which we did not even complete. Overall, the lack of communication, hidden charges, and poor check-in process made this a very frustrating experience. Avoid this hotel at all costs."

"My daughter and I just walked in the door from a 2 week European vacation and it's unanimous that this was our favorite stay our entire trip. The hotel has a lovely old world Italian charm and the room was surprisingly roomy given the other hotels we visited. What really made it special was the staff. The breakfast was the nicest we encountered during our trip with the best pistachio croissants that we tried to replicate throughout our trip but were unsuccessful. The family-run hotel even made some special moments on Easter with the guests that really made it feel like you were staying with family. Loved Lucca and would 10000% come back to Hotel Alexander on our next stay!!!"

"Check in was a little confusing but just a miscommunication. Beautiful room. Two large windows, comfy bed, far enough away from main street to be more quiet but close enough to feel part of the action. "

"I stayed in the twin room as a solo traveler - very comfortable bed and roomy bathroom as noted in other reviews. Having breakfast available was a nice option. I tried to get a hold of the host twice during my stay - once via WhatsApp re renting a bike and once via Expedia about bag storage - neither inquiry received any response. I’m very surprised other guests found the staff so helpful honestly. I had no interaction besides entrance instructions. "
