"Room was spotless, friendly staff, great choices on the buffet breakfast bar. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the room was very warm overnight, and the windows in the room do not open and the air con was not responsive to my attempt to lower the temperature"

"The people working there were SUPER friendly and professional... I asked them for directions and reservations to restaurants and taxi to go to the airport and every time they were spot on. The food is served at the bar next to them and it was buffet style very fresh and delicious. "

"I really love the Dakota as it has a lovely boutique feel, great lounge area to relax in. The rooms are very nice and stylish with plenty room and comfortable beds. The staff are very nice. My first choice when heading to Edinburgh, especially when visiting the outlets in Livingston. "

"We stayed for one night, we found it good value for money with modern rooms and facilities. Rooms were clean and well equipped, the check in process was easy with self service options. Breakfast was average, meeting the expectations of a budget hotel. TV in room was a good size, and it was great to have smart features, unfortunately these were very unreliable, constantly disconnecting. Also the aircon unit in the room was quite noisy at night, with it switching itself back on at midnight and the indicator light on the display being incredibly bright"

"A wonderful stay at the holiday Inn ( near the zoo) very spacious, very clean and organised-by friendly professional team. Well connected to airport and city. I hope to return when visiting Edinburgh again. "

"This was actually a two night stay - two separate, sequential reservations - which the staff dealt with just fine on check-in, though despite getting my keys renewed first thing on Day 2, the keys still did not work when I got back to my room - first world problems! Biggest issue was that the hotel only had one working lift (elevator) for ten floors - you can imagine how busy that one elevator was! Breakfast was OK, though the eggs benedict was luke-warm rather than hot. Decent continental breakfast selection, but mini-croissants were not fresh, and there was a distinct lack of any fresh bread (only sliced bread for toasting) - a few baguettes would make a difference! The room was pretty spacious and comfortable and reasonably quiet. It looked a little tired in places, but nothing too troubling. The staircase used in place of the elevator service was somewhat grubby in places and not what would be expected of a 4* hotel. The exit/entry off Calton Road is a bonus for easy access to Edinburgh Waverley Station. The gym, although small in size, was well-equipped with free weights, and the steam room in the spa was a real bonus."
