"Picturesque location and very nice hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant was lovely - dinner and breakfast were both delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. "

"Staff were friendly and helpful. Convenient car parking. Our room was a good size but very tired decor, dust/cobwebs hanging from ceiling, bathroom very old fashioned and in serious need of modernisation. The bedroom (Room 9) overlooked a noisy courtyard and there was music playing until at least 11pm. Breakfast was very good. The hotel also sent an unnecessarily high number of messages via Expedia in the run up to our stay which was more annoying than helpful, particularly as they didn’t display properly and were mostly trying to sell upgrades to our stay."

"Onernight stay on way to Scotland. Lovely quiet location within a few miles of M6. Friendly staff, clean pleasant room. Had evening meal in the restaurant which was very good. Enjoyed it so much we repeated the experience on the way back! Second night room was a bit smaller but fine for overnight. "

"We stayed at Smithy Cottage for Christmas week and had the best time! The cottage is so cosy and is in such a great location! A 5 min walk from the pub and only a 20 min drive from Keswick! Would definitely recommend and stay here again!"

"This cottage was cute and cozy. Host was very nice, welcomed me and took care of all my needs while I was staying including locating a recycle bin close by. WiFi was great so I could do some work whilst there. Warm and compact accommodation. Everything is new and working. I was not there in the warm weather but I think if you get a nice day the patio would be delightful to sit out and enjoy the view and there has to be some lovely walks near by as well. Highly recommend and 5 stars for me if you want a nice little cottage. Thank you Anna."

"Lovely stay at The Mains. Itâ€™s a little bit old fashioned inside but very roomy and comfortable. Itâ€™s close to Penrith for shopping and park run! Also easy to get to Keswick and Ullswater but Lowther Castle is also a nice place to visit.The owner lives next door and is very friendly and helpful.The house is warm and has a lively range cooker and the kitchen is well equipped apart from scissors! We didnâ€™t make use of the facilities as we ate in but there is a pub and restaurant nearby and local shop and PO. Also has a nice garden which we never got round to sitting in."
