Hotel Fort Des Moines, Curio Collection by Hilton
10/10 Excellent
"Nice property. Great location in downtown, very walkable. Checked in late with no problems. Would certainly stay here again"
"This large upper unit was perfectly located off 235 so we could navigate to all our events easily. Street parking was readily avaliable. The charming exterior has potential to be more upscale with improved landscaping. Our older guests felt a bit insecure on the outside steps without railings at the very bottom. The open concept living area was very spacious with comfortable furnishings. The dinning area easily sat 8 people. The kitchen had plenty of counter space. Cabinets had lots off minor issues with hardware, but overall functional. A nice little coffee bar was also available with some supplies. All 3 bedrooms had closets available. The center bathroom had vanity cabinet space as well. Both baths were dated and showed wear but relatively clean and supplied with soaps, TP, and towels. A little office nook and outdoor upper patio with newer furnishings. The place was a bit dusty, had cloudy windows, and the patio had lots of fall debris. There was a roof leak in the kitchen and one window frame during a storm. We contacted the host and he thanked us for letting him know.Overall a very nice place to stay.Would definitely recommend a stay."
Ingersoll Immersion - 4BR city gem with game table; near all the excitement!
10/10 Excellent
"This home was out home away from home. Clean and spacious. This home fits all ages. If u are older and cannot climb stairs there is a bedroom/ game room on first floor. There is no bed just a futon. Beds are comfortable. Lots of games to choose from a nice patio in back and nice deck in the front. Centrally located. Would rent again. "
"Easy to locate, nice neighborhood. Perfect for an evening walk!Lovely spaces with natural light. Comfortable beds. The kitchen is well-supplied. We appreciated the generous shower supplies. We’d stay here again in Des Moines/Altoona area."
Charming house - minutes from downtown, walking distance to Ingersoll!
10/10 Excellent
"Charming house with lots of character indeed. Multi generational family stay with an infant. Plenty of room for all of us. We enjoyed the outdoor space. One downside was we would have liked MORE bath towels and wash cloths. Both bathrooms have been updated considering the age of the house. Kitchen was also updated. We picked the house for the location as it was close to a wedding venue, Willow on Grand."
"There were several issues. The lock box with the keys couldn't be opened, no one knew the code. The automatic deadbolt lock wouldn't open with number pad and could not be fixed remotely. An employee came to building to help and had me download app and it worked but took over 2 hours to get things working and I was late to an engagement. The TV never worked even with texts and calls made to report it. I was told someone would be fixing that and the microwave but they never showed. "
"This is a very cute older historical home in a beautiful neighborhood. We had 5 adult women get together for the weekend, and this place fit our group perfectly. One of us snores so the 3rd floor bedroom option fit perfectly, just a tad noise from the highway but slept great with a fan running on high over the fan. We ordered take out both nights, great selection of a variety of different foods. Delivery from area restaurants were fast and delicious, under 25 mins from order to door.
This fit our group great! If your party is more than 5, I suggest bringing your own towels, and extra blankets. The idea of 9 people would require 3 people in the kind, 2 in the queen bed, then two singles in third bedroom plus two people sleeping on the couch sectional. You would need to bring extra bedding for couch if planned on using that to sleep on.
It was a perfect weekend and we plan to use this place again next time we come to town for an event. It’s clean, cute, and close to most places you typically want to be close by. It’s very affordable "
