I'm a single mom who was on holiday with my daughter. We stayed at top hotels across the country and this was our only bad experience.
It is a beautiful property but the service (and employee attitudes) were terrible... Arriving there was no help with bags (from car to lobby, or from check-in to our room. Nor were we offered a cart). The people at the front desk were curt, impatient and seemed annoyed to have to check us in / help.
Our room was clean, but upon entering we needed towels and I wanted to ask about room service (there were no menus / information in the room), so I phoned the concierge and front desk - six times...there was NO answer, at all. And no call back.
We finally went to the lobby for directions to the restaurant and to the beach, but we were brushed aside and had to ask another guest. At this point we were so frustrated we Googled where to go locally for dinner and left the property (we found a place to eat in Howth, and did the lovely 'Howth Cliff Walk'). When we returned in the evening I went and found towels myself. Later I had another difficult experience asking help to reserve a car to the airport. :|
I will never return. I am a single mom who works very hard. I deserve to be treated with respect. I will not be made to pay for the experience of being treated rudely, in front of my daughter (this became a learning experience - thanks for that). I assume because of the golf perhaps people put up with it the attitudes and bad service... Never again.
