House for 4 to 8 people, pleasantly furnished, with all the necessary equipment and comfort. Very calm, bright, breathtaking view of the front lake, the trees and the birds (Natura 2000 protected area.
5 rooms: 3 bedrooms, 2 large living areas with beds. American kitchen equipped with every comfort, TV / Hi-Fi lounge. High speed Wi-Fi included (LiveBox). Renovated bathroom with WC on the ground floor.
Upstairs terrace, another garden level terrace facing the lake.
Land of 500 m2 facing the lake (not fenced). Court.
Free parking in front of the house or in the courtyard.
We can comfortably accommodate 8 people: 2 bedrooms with double beds (160 and 140 cm), one bedroom with bunk bed (90 cm) and a drawer bed. 2 sofa beds (160 and 140 cm) in the two living areas (Ground floor and upper floor).
Fishing option with friends who own ponds 2 minutes by car in Fargny (contact us for prices) and possible water sports in Cappy (7 km).
Fishing and swimming prohibited in front of the house.

Good base for exploring WW1 Somme Battlefields
We used this property as a base for exploring some of the WW1 Somme battlefields which worked very well. The property is on the bank of the Somme itself and was on the frontline in 1916. Francois, the property owner, was very responsive and helpful with queries. Note that the property is in a small village and a short drive from the nearest restaurants and shops.

Relaxing
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the end of May 2022. A great spot to recharge and as a base to tour the Somme area. The view from the terrace is fantastic and one we didn’t want to leave.

Beautiful location
We spent 3 most enjoyable days at Vaux, thoroughly enjoying our evenings watching the lake and it’s visitors. How lovely to hear a cuckoo and watch a red squirrel in the garden. The property was easy to find and our purpose for staying was to visit the Somme and we travelled easily to all the key sites. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely views and spacious house
Good size 3 bedroom house with great views of the lake. Wood burner in lounge/kitchen area. Off the beaten track, very peaceful. Within driving distance of Somme museums (15 minutes).

Great peaceful location and lovely cottage
A great short break in the Somme, visiting the main WW1 sites. The house is in a lovely peaceful location with great walks by the river. The house has everything you need and was very warm thanks to a superb log burner!

Lovely gite in a scenic and quiet location
A very spacious and comfortable gite. Great location for exploring nearby WW1 battlefilds.
All amenities provided and we enjoyed our stay. The nearby bar and restaurant in Curlu is recommended and the owner is very friendly.
Disappointing when advertised that internet is provided that we found we had to pay for it. Very unusual nowadays. We used the free wifi at Poppy's café in Albert. Great café and lovely food.
Overall we loved our 6day stay.

Nice and quiet house, and plenty to do locally.
We chose this house as we have small children and it was far enough away from Calais to be an adventure, but not so far that the journey would be boring for them!
We had a great time staying here. The house had everything we needed and sitting on the balcony overlooking the lake in the evenings was excellent. The washing machine and drier proved useful, particularly for kids clothes!!
There was plenty for a young family to do. We were fortunate that the local fete was on whilst we were there which we loved. We went on the little train at Froissy which the kids loved and was also a good history lesson. We found a free makeshift beach and swimming pool in Peronne which the kids didn't want to leave. Plus we spent days in Amiens at the zoo, and visits to several other small towns which we came across. There was always a local bar for coffee, or a beer, and a bite to eat. There were plenty of local shops and supermarkets to keep us supplied. We found everybody we met very pleasant indeed.
The only thing that stopped this property being 5 stars was that it was unfortunately very dirty when we got there and we had to clean it. I have highlighted this to Aurelie ( who was delightful throughout the whole booking and arranging process ) and she was most apologetic and will raise matters with her housekeeper to avoid further problems.

Lovely quiet house in good location
We just spent a week here. The house is in a very quiet area on the Somme River. It is a great location for seeing all the history. The living space has everything you need to self cater and you have a lovely water view. The bathroom is downstairs which was a bit tricky for me as I have a bad knee. I didn't realise it was 2 story when I booked it.
