Tudor Cottage in the beautiful Cotswold town of Fairford Gloucestershire

Stay in a cottage once owned by King Henry VIII

Grade II Listed Cotswold stone Tudor Cottage is the oldest burgage in Fairford and was once owned by King Henry VIII. The quirky cottage pays homage to the king that once owned it. Uneven floors, Inglenook Fireplaces, Beams and much more character are found within. There are 2 Superking Bedrooms. The Cottage is in the pretty market town of Fairford, which is situated in the beautiful Coln Valley and the Cotswold Water Park. Everything is catered for in Fairford, and guests are able to walk into the town to shop and eat. You can easily join the many beautiful walks in and around Fairford. Take a Picnic with you and stop along the River bank. Further afield is the Roman town of Cirencester, the village of Bibury with its trout farm and the famous Arlington Row, Burford Wildlife Park, Westonbirt Arboretum, and the Spa town of Cheltenham are all close by.

Loved it.
Felt like home immediately. Very cosy. The books everywhere, Shakespeare's buste...funny typical English weird dog lamp. Bathroom to die for. Bedrooms gorgeous. Did not see the ferret. And Fairford itself is a gem. Having read many books about the English Tudor times this was perfect as a place to stay and visit Highclere castle, Jeremy's farm and other lovely things and places in the beautiful surrounding countryside.

A birthday treat
We stayed at Tudor Cottage for three nights, a treat for my Husbands birthday . The cottage is from the 15 th century and is called a burbage . Which means it belonged to a King or Lord ! In this case King Henry the Eighth . Huge wood fire ,,which made the living room really cosy Although old , the cottage has everything you could wish for. There is a lovely garden out the back , which I am sure in the summer evenings , it would be a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink or two . The bedrooms are beautifully furnished . My only negative is the stairs , which are steep and windy . My Hysband had to carry our dig up and down at bedtime . Fairford is a lovely little town with access to some beautiful parts of the Cotsworlds. We had an Indian takeaway on our first evening there , which I would recommend . Overall , a lovely stay .

Perfect ambiance for tour of countryside
This cottage, with its exposed beams, plank flooring, in a picturesque village, puts you in the right frame of mind for touring historic sites. We stayed there and drove up to the Cotswolds villages, also over to Bath and Avebury. We saw many National Trust houses. This apartment was convenient, comfortable, and had all modern appliances we needed. Stores are nearby, and one in particular, the butcher, has nice pies and other items that are delightful. A great place to stay.
