The staff were all attentive and helpful. The bedding and towels were spotless. We had an amazing view of the bay, having booked a superiour room for our anniversary. I must say that the hotel was undergoing some works, so maybe my review for 03/07/26 will not be relevant for all my points in the future. We could not find a place to park, had to park in the road and move the car later. The main entrance was taped off and we entered into the dining/bar area. My first impressions were how dirty the carpets were, especially leading to the reception desk. There was a lift to the upper floors which was clean. Our room had a refurbished bathroom, but nowhere in there to put anything, even in the shower, other than our toothbrushes on the sink unit. We did remove the tiny bar of soap and plastic "glasses" that were on the toilet cistern but realised any creams, deodorant etc were in danger of falling into the toilet pan. Most places have soft close toilet seats, as the refurbishment was quite recent we were disappointed to find it chipped and old. Only one hand towel for the 2 of us was a bit stingy. The room was an ok size, but the carpet ill fitting, the paintwork grubby and poor, we were unable to open any window, they were painted shut, that did not stop them from rattling in the wind. One chair almost broken. We had seen online we could have Lamb Shank, not so, discontinued a year ago and the Chicken Stroganoff overcooked couldn't' cut it. I have no room to write more detail

Nice modern hotel with good room and good breakfast but the check-in process was a disaster. We arrived early hoping for an early check in but there were no rooms available and we were just told to come back at 3. When we did come back the queue was out the door, despite us using the online checkin system. By the time we waited and got to the front of the queue there were no rooms available and we had to go out to the event we were attending and check in late instead. Staff could have been much more proactive in letting people know the situation instead of waiting in line for no reason. Also, not great when you can’t check in at a reasonable time.
