Stayed because close to cemetary- for family funeral. Chose hotel because photos of lounges and dining areas offered place for family to gather after service. They didn’t exist - or weren’t open. Restaurant closed during week. Paid for breakfast included and no breakfast- told after arrival that “only on weekends”. Shower completely broken, but didn’t discover till am.
Grounds have potential to be lovely, didn’t get time to explore due to rain. Staff try to compensate- offered to carry bags, allowed use of a space where temporary tables hadn’t been put away yet to eat delivery food. They explain under renovation but one ladder and a paint can aren’t renovation. This place has grass growing from the balconies, is a run down 1980s hotel tacked onto an old decaying mansion, has hundreds of rooms. It needs millions and a huge contract crew if it is going to get renovated.
I wouldn’t have cared about some of the above but they shouldn’t advertise what they can’t provide. And someone cleaned the room and couldn’t have missed that broken shower.
