"The Hurt Arms has recently been refurbished with style and modernity. Staff were welcoming and efficient, except for the breakfast chef who went awol ! It is accessible and well-situated near the River Derwent. The bedroom was roomy, quiet and decorous, as was the well-equipped bathroom. However, as the tall bedroom windows looked directly over a main junction at the south side of Ambergate some privacy screening on the lower third of the windows would not go amiss"

"This is definitely one of my favourite stays, first time in the Peak District and this place did not disappoint. Attention to detail was perfect not many stays have bubble bath. But the breakfast and the cakes don’t get me started. Definitely a 10/10 I will be coming back very soon! All the best for the future x"

"The Property was modern and clean, and when we booked, we knew it was a country hotel. The grounds looked lovely and well maintained, but due to the weather, we didn't get to enjoy a walk around them. We arrived earlier than expected, at 1.30pm, and the reception staff were very good and allowed us to check in early. When we said we would wait for the arrival of our friends in the bar, we were told the bar didn't open until 4pm. We thought there would be a lounge area to sit and wait, but the hotel didn't have that facility either. The other downside was that access from the rooms to the restaurant bar was to go outside, so if raining, you would get wet. The food was good quality, and my friend was delighted with her choices for gluten-free. The breakfast was cooked to order, and there was a good selection. The poached eggs were perfect, although we were disappointed that the bacon was streaky."

"Smashing hotel, from the check-in upto departure all was perfect. Clean room with all the expected tea/coffee, and a good shower as well. Nothing to complain about, and, if in Belper again, will definitely stay here."
