I really enjoyed my stay at the Doghouse. Having stayed in some lovely hotels over the years, many of them are similar and monotonous. The Doghouse REALLY stands out from the crowd. It has huge amounts of character. The decor is fun and unique and I love how the rooms are themed on the different beers. The room itself was fantastic - on two levels with plenty of space, a large bed, sofa, kitchen and bathroom. The rooms are completely soundproof. There was no noise from the bar or other rooms at...

The room wasn't huge but it was well equipped with all of the basics. It was lovely and quiet with good mattresses & excellent pillows for a great night's sleep. The breakfast was excellent with a generous selection of the full cooked breakfast items and plenty for my vegetarian companion. Not many shops nearby but very close to airport tram stop, train station, and bus routes to city centre (or a 20 minute walk)

It was probably the nicest hotel I’ve been to. Really beautiful old building in good condition with lots different rooms to relax including the library. Our room was smallish but really nice. We normally wouldn’t eat in the hotel every night but the food and service was so good the first night we stayed the next two nights. Very very good. ALL the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was a bother. Really nice walk through the woods behind the hotel. What more can I say, it was...

Everything was clean and the room was in a very good state. We were particularly pleased with the size of the family room. It was very comfortable for a family of 4. The hotel location is well connected to the city center with public transport. We would definitely return.

Lovely hotel! Clean, quiet, big room, nice breakfast and lovely lebanese restaurant inside the hotel for dinner (Sofia’s Lebanese)!
Location is perfect, walkable distance to the wonderful old and new town of this amazing city!

Enjoyed the stay. Hotel was clean, breakfast was good and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly - much appreciated.
You use your door key to operate the lift and I thought that was a good idea for security purposes.
Two things: a handrail on the two steps to the bar would be helpful for creaky knees and poor eyesight and, secondly, being forewarned that only credit/debit card payments are taken, no cash - this is prevalent in Edinburgh.
I would go again.
