Excellent concept Staff very helpful Road works in the area made it extremely difficult to get to the hotel but once there it’s worth it

Clean, spacious rooms, lovely livation, very handy for buses and the centre, excellent breakfast.

No restaurant but good discount with local businesses . Room had bare minimum only soap no extras

I really enjoyed my stay at the Doghouse. Having stayed in some lovely hotels over the years, many of them are similar and monotonous. The Doghouse REALLY stands out from the crowd. It has huge amounts of character. The decor is fun and unique and I love how the rooms are themed on the different beers. It was probably the nicest hotel I’ve been to. Really beautiful old building in good condition with lots different rooms to relax including the library. Our room was smallish but really nice. We normally wouldn’t eat in the hotel every night but the food and service was so good the first night we stayed the next two nights. Very very good. ALL the staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent location right beside tram station which arrives direct from airport. Lots of added extras like champagne on arrival, free mini bar and ghd in room . Situated middle of old and new town. Walking distance to Edinburgh Castle . Definitely be back , best ever hotel

There was a slightly musty or damp smell in the room which wasn’t very pleasant. We could also hear all the traffic as the windows are all single glazed. Everything else was fab

The room wasn't huge but it was well equipped with all of the basics. It was lovely and quiet with good mattresses & excellent pillows for a great night's sleep. The breakfast was excellent with a generous selection of the full cooked breakfast items and plenty for my vegetarian companion. Not many shops nearby but very close to airport tram stop, train station,and bus routes to city centre (or a 20 minute walk)
