"Excellent location and well-priced: accommodating our large family with 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, however, overall the property would benefit from a little TLC being a little rough around the edges but, again, very reasonably priced. The kitchen and living area was excellent being bright, open and with a well stocked kitchen. The host was very friendly, and communication was very responsive."

There is a little shop at the top of the road with plenty supplies. And wonderfully situated for exploring Belfast and the county south."

"The cottage was delightful! It isn’t a shared space, so the whole place was ours - so nice! I highly recommend this quaint town. It has cute shops and wonderful pubs in easy walking distance. The host was super helpful with anything we needed and the cottage is spotless. The parking was tight, but there are lots nearby if you aren’t comfortable with the curb parking.For future travelers from the arid American West, Europeans don’t use a top sheet and regulate their inner temperatures different than us. Even with windows open, we find we wake up in a sweat half way through the night. This isn’t just here, but everywhere in Ireland and N. Ireland! We plan on picking up a light blanket to carry with us for this reason. Otherwise, book this place! We highly recommend it!"

Hilden Brewery

Founded in 1981, Hilden Brewery in Lisburn is the oldest independent brewery in Ireland. It is to be found in the grounds of Hilden House, a Georgian manor once home to the Barbour linen company. Here it was that Thomas Andrews, ill-fated designer of the Titanic (the ship left from Belfast, 15 minutes up the road), was married to a Barbour sister. To mark the regeneration of Belfast’s riverside Titanic Quarter, a special pale ale was commissioned from the brewery. Other prominent guests at the house have included William Wordsworth and Edward VIII.
