Situated in North London, Islington is a popular area that is easily accessible to central London. It is estimated that almost 250,000 people live in the area and over the years has become a much sought area and expensive place to buy in.
With its Georgian streets, bars, clubs, pubs, restaurants and open green spaces, Islington is a very attractive place to stay on a visit to London.

Most hotels are only a short distance away from the Underground transport system or “The Tube” as locals call it. With handy connections on the Northern Line via Angel or the Victoria Line via Highbury and Islington, Islington makes a great accommodation base for visitors.
Things to Do in Islington
Home to two of London’s most popular music venues, 02 Academy and Union Chapel, Islington is a popular spot for gig lovers. Union Chapel, in particular, is a special venue due to the fact that it is based within a working church which still has pews for audiences to sit in and enjoy a show from. The O2 Academy often has a lineup of big names and world famous acts on its event listings.
Further entertainment can be enjoyed at Almeida Theatre, an alternative and award-winning theatre in London, that is based in Islington and is often putting on shows in its 325-seat venue.
For football fans, Islington is only a short distance away from Emirates Stadium, Arsenal’s football ground. It is possible to take a tour of the stadium and / or go one step further and buy a ticket for a home match during football season.

The area is also swarming in traditional Georgian style pubs and more modern bars where some of London’s finest mixologists are located. There is also a big club scene within the area, with well-known DJs known to play at different venues in the area.
Upper Street in Islington is famous for its upmarket eateries and shops should visitors want to treat themselves whilst in London. It also has an independent cinema for a more laid back activity during a stay in the area.
Islington is also well known for its hipster cafes and hangouts, including coffee shops with galleries and adjoining record shops. The area also has several great local markets, where fresh food and artisan products can be bought and enjoyed.
