"The room was clean and a good size. The location was good ….right across the street from the Kyoto Station. The station had many restaurants to choose from. We found our favourite for sushi and sashimi where we had dinner 5 nights. The Gion district is a cab ride away. My surprise was how few Japanese people spoke any English even in the hotels. The translator App was a necessity."

"Pros: - The rooms were spacious compared to most Japanese hotel rooms. It was nice to have a more traditional tatami style room. - The breakfast buffet had an incredible selection to choose from. There’s a bit of a wait depending on when you go, but it goes rather quickly. - Late night unlimited ramen from 9pm-11pm was also a nice touch. We loved being able to eat a light meal after a long day of exploring. - Onsen access is really nice, with massage chairs available for use. And unlimited ice cream every night was also really delicious. Cons: - Having guests take off their shoes at the lobby makes the place smell like feet. It’s pretty gross since it was raining when we were there so it was a mix of wet socks and feet stench. They should at least require that people wear hotel rooms slippers. - The onsen was really dirty from the amount of people that would use the facilities. It was overcrowded and packed during the night time. Overall, I’d stay at this hotel again, but refrain from using public facilities. It’s almost impossible to keep the public areas clean and free of smells since there are so many guests."

"The rooms were very well maintained and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful when I had questions. The breakfast was fantastic. I’ve never seen such a large assortment of options for a buffets and more importantly everything seemed to be fresh. I would gladly stay again if I had the opportunity to."

"The hotel is in an excellent location. You can walk to amazing restaurants, shops and the local streets are beautiful. It’s really easy to get around from here. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers. However I did not find the reception staff very helpful. I wanted advice on day trips, booking a private car and booking a restaurant and they wouldn’t help me or were very reluctant to help. Booking various things on websites and via phone can be very difficult when you don’t speak Japanese. In addition the rooms are provided with fresh towels each day but the beds are not made. However the beds are very comfortable after a long day out!"

"This is my favorite APA Hotel in Kyoto and it's just a short walk to Kyoto Tower and great dining options! It's a very, very short walk to any of four subway entrances and the Porta (underground food and shopping) right by Kyoto Station. It's only a few minutes walk to the Central Entrance/Exit of Kyoto Station complete with subway, JR Rail, and Shinkansen service. The staff at this APA Hotel are always extremely courteous and they really care about their customers. I have stayed at this hotel 3 times in the last 14 months and it is always a great experience and the staff at the front desk and housekeeping are always excellent. They have earned my loyalty and respect! The hotel has clean rooms and good facilities as well as a decent restaurant attached to it (but it's within a short walk of some great restaurants and izakayas). APA Hotel is always a safe choice for me when solo traveling in Japan and the beds aren't super firm like a lot of hotels. The TVs allow streaming from personal devices or from the hotel's own library of films, shows, and other entertainment. There are 3 elevators so despite the hotel's size it's never a long wait. The laundry facilities are good and are well-maintained. I enjoy walking around Kyoto a lot and taking the subway, but it's also very easy to hail a taxi from right in front of this hotel because many of them line up on this street to turn towards the Kyoto Station taxi pickup area. It's very convenient at any hour day or night!"
