"Beautiful hotel and facilities. We loved our room - the bathroom was amazing! Heating and hot water broke on Friday so shower/bath was lukewarm and cold room. which spoiled our evening a little, unfortunately. Staff were lovely and resolved it ready for the next day/eve. Breakfast was wonderful on Sat/Sunday with great choice and quality. Surrounding area is beautiful and we made use of the chauffeur service to come back from our evening at the gorgeous (and highly recommended) Royal Oak pub/restaurant in Cartmel. Small touches we loved: the friendliness of staff, champagne on arrival, daily newspapers, dressing gowns, lovely coffee bags in our room, Molton Brown products. Things we’d improve for 5⭐️: toiletries ran out, coffee (decaf only) and milk not replenished on Sat turnabout so we ran out (too late to notice on Sun am); no biscuit treats available with drink- making, bin not emptied so overflowing by Sunday. "

"The staff were very nice and friendly but the room was terrible. I’m not normally fussy but here are just some of the things I didn’t like: poor quality mattress, collapsed bed base, hairs and stains in the bedding, a thick layer of dust on many surfaces, toilet seat not attached to the bowl. I hate to leave a bad review but the 8.0 rating on this website and four stars are very misleading. "

"We were a 3 generation family of 6 adults, 4 children and Missy the cavapoochon. Cartmel Hill was the perfect setting for a fabulous Easter weekend. The house was perfect, and had everything we needed to make meals and snacks. The house has stunning views across the bay to Grange. Sheep and lambs in the adjacent fields. Our cars dud not move all weekend. We were able to walk into Cartmel, which is a delight. Good food, music and beer. Communication with Simon at Cumbria Cottages was terrific. Thanks Simon "
