Would definitely return - as a person who stays in Marriott/Hiltons for work, often - made a lovely homely change"
"Absolute Gem of a place, super clean, cosy and lovely little village Cark is, this was a great hub for me and my boy to do Scaffel whilst my wife and daughter took a train into Ulverston for the day "train station 2 min walk away". Definitely one the best kept places we have stopped in. Neighbours really friendly also :)"

"A Beautiful Stay in the Heart of Cartmel
We had such a wonderful stay at the Cartmel Old Grammar Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly, welcoming, and genuinely lovely — they made us feel completely at home.
The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and immaculately finished, with thoughtful touches throughout. With some really lovely communal spaces to get to know other guests and not feel tucked away in your room all day. It strikes the perfect balance between character and contemporary comfort. Set in a peaceful, scenic spot, it’s an ideal base for exploring the charming village of Cartmel.
Speaking of which, the location couldn’t be better. It’s just a stone’s throw from the incredible L’Enclume, which was a real highlight of our trip, and the village itself is full of character, with a surprising number of independent shops, cosy pubs, and pretty streets to wander.
We left feeling relaxed, well looked after. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and stylish retreat in a truly beautiful corner of the Lakes."
Lake District apartment with wonderful sea views across Morecambe Bay
10/10 Excellent
"Balcony has a great view over the bay and the added bonus of a retractable awning which gave shade and rain protection. Great position in the center of a nice town, handy for everything. Additionally there is a small courtyard you can leave a bike ( we didn't didn't know about this). Trains weren't an issue, enjoyed them passing.Very little negative to say. We had to ask for the address and no actual directions were given ( Google street view helped, although doesn't go down the actual street) . You can't park directly outside for long, but long enough to unpack/pack up. We were there during a heatwave so sun disappearing early evening a godsend, but in normal UK weather it might be frustrating. Downstairs a bit dark but only use it for toilet & sleep. Shower involved a stoop but that's been mentioned and hardly worth mentioning. All in all an excellent stay. Thanks"
"The room was lovely, attention to detail was excellent they thought of everything for the room or should I say suite! There was a hot tub outside that we used. Breakfast was served in our room….lots of choice for breakfast and the food was delicious.
We had booked 3 nights but only stayed one night unfortunately. We were going to a wedding and I had booked the wrong hotel! The staff were very accommodating trying to arrange for us to go to the wedding hotel which they did! So it was an expensive weekend having paid for 2 hotels.
I wish we had stayed at the manor for the 3 nights……we will definitely return. "
"We checked in to this beautiful old inn, and were greeted by owner Johnathan, we were shown to our room and told if we needed anything just ask. Being the winter the kitchen is closed Monday and Tuesday which Johnathan apologised for, we replied it’s absoulutly fine. He told us of the local Chinese just up the road and said please feel free to bring it back to our room to eat, which we did.
Excellent Chinese takeaway.
We slept like logs and woke to have full breakfast that Jonathan cooked which was lovely fresh and hot.
Will be booking again without a doubt."
